Monday, April 8 is the end of an era for Nintendo, as the online services for both the Wii U and 3DS are shutting down after today. Many Nintendo fans have been dreading April 8, as it means that the online functionality for a significant number of games will cease to function. For some games, this means losing certain game modes. For games with a heavy online focus, it means that they will effectively cease to exist.

Stardew Valley creator Eric «ConcernedApe» Barone recently gave fans a brief update on the console and mobile versions of the 1.6 update. Stardew Valley was released a whopping eight years ago, but the game is still receiving significant new updates. Just recently, Stardew Valley released Update 1.6, one of the game's biggest post-launch updates ever, but it's so far only available to PC gamers.

When Pokemon GO first launched, it did so with only three types of Poke Balls for trainers to use when trying to catch Pokemon: regular Poke Balls, Great Balls, and Ultra Balls. However, different Poke Ball types have been added to the augmented reality mobile game in the years since it first released.

According to the latest rumors, Gears of War 6 could potentially be «the moment» for Xbox Series X in the same way that the original Gears of War was «the moment» on Xbox 360. With Gears 5 ending on a cliffhanger and the franchise remaining one of the biggest Xbox console exclusive franchises in existence, the announcement of Gears of War 6 is a matter of when, not if. While it remains to be seen exactly when Microsoft will pull the curtain back on Gears of War 6, anticipation has been ramping up for a potential reveal this summer.

This isn't the first time that Nintendo has shut down the online services for its consoles, so many fans have been anticipating the same fate for the Wii U and 3DS.

The Epic Games Store didn't break from this established pattern with the latest free game offerings, with users able to claim two new freebies right now.

Pokemon GO is officially bringing back the Bug Out event for 2024. Pokemon GO hosts a wide variety of events throughout any given year. Some of these special Pokemon GO events are one-off affairs, while others are annual events that come back every year. One such recurring event in Pokemon GO is Bug Out, a special event themed after the Bug-type Pokemon that players can catch in the augmented reality mobile game.

Microsoft has confirmed seven more games coming to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service in the first half of April 2024. Microsoft has already added a few games to Xbox Game Pass as part of the April 2024 lineup, with a new one available as of today.
