The Minikit from the video games has finally been released in real life. The Minikit first appeared 19 years ago in 2005's as a collectible item and became a mainstay in the series' future titles. There were 10 hidden Minikits in each level — and 60 per Episode — that could form a miniature LEGO recreation of an iconic ship once players had acquired them all, with using them as a way to unlock extra playable characters as well.

Microsoft has announced an Xbox Games Showcase for its first-party titles for June, alongside a dedicated Direct event for an unnamed title. Outraged Elite Dangerous players accused studio Frontier Developments of adding pay-to-win items after it announced plans to sell its newest spaceships for premium currency. An upcoming patch for Elite Dangerous is expected to bring with it the first new ship type since the release of the Mamba and the Krait Phantom, which both hit the live servers back in December 2018. Unfortunately, many fans were displeased when developers revealed players would have to pay extra if they wanted to grab the latest ship at the earliest opportunity.

Swedish game and media holding company Embracer Group has announced its plans to split into three separate entities.

Embracer Group, the embattled gaming conglomerate that owns the rights to 'The Lord of the Rings' franchise, has announced that it is splitting into three different companies. The group, which went through significant restructuring this year and sold off major game studios like Saber Interactive and Gearbox to reduce debt, will separate into Asmodee Group, Coffee Stain & Friends, and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends. The three games and entertainment companies will be standalone, publicly listed entities, Embracer said, with the split “enabling each entity to better focus on their respective core strategies and offer more differentiated and distinct equity stories for existing and new shareholders.”

Since before Sonic Frontiers even launched, Sega made it abundantly clear that future instalments in the franchise would be building on the foundations laid down by the open world platformer, and with Frontiers having sold as well as it did, it’s safe to assume that the company is probably sticking to those plans. In fact, a direct sequel to Sonic Frontiers seems to be in development.

For just about as long as I can remember, products from The Army Painter have been judged a bit hit-or-miss by those in the painting community. Sonic Frontiers 2 is reportedly currently in development at SEGA with the gameplay being a sequel to 2022's Frontiers gameplay-wise.
