Jewel crafting in is good, but item crafting can feel static and forces players into building a certain way. This takes away the excitement of finding an upgraded item but also the creative freedom of class-building. These are two things that and do significantly well mixed with the excellent gameplay mechanics already present.
's crafting system can be complicated but rewards those who master it. Players can choose to upgrade items to a higher rarity, but that rarity is random and the item itself could change. Affixes and Gem Sockets can also be placed onto items, but are random. Luckily, has a crafting currency that will lock an Affix to avoid it being replaced. Though these processes can be done as often as desired, thetrade-off is the randomness of it and how many crafting currencies are needed to craft the perfect item.
has a more precise system, but properly balances it out. Each item players collect will have aset amount of Forging Potential that is used up when crafting. has each Affix as its own specific shard that can be placed and upgraded on items. This allows for precise crafting that is less time-consuming, but with the trade-off that it won't be as perfect. also allows Unique items to drop with Legendary Potential, which when combined with an Exalted item, will transfer the latter's Affixes and create a truly unique Legendary item.
Glyphs, a crafting currency in, can be used to give a 25% chance to negate any Forging Potential loss during a crafting attempt.
