If you were impressed by how good the first GTA 6 trailer looked, you were far from alone: even developers who previously worked at Rockstar were blown away by the level of detail shown.

Immortals of Aveum might get a new lease on life through a subscription service.
By Eddie Makuch on
Immortals of Aveum, a new IP from a former Call of Duty developer Bret Robbins' Ascendant Studios, launched in August but didn't generate the kind of numbers it needed to. As a result, Ascendant laid off staff. To help improve the game's longer-term fortunes, many are wondering if the game could come to a subscription service like Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus.
Robbins told Windows Central that those services definitely «give you a wider funnel,» and launching Immortals on Game Pass or PS Plus might lead to greater engagement.

Robbins said discussions are underway, and he's hopeful that Immortals can join one or both of the subscription catalogs sometime down the road. «Yes, we are talking to them about getting the game onto both of those services. We don't have a date yet, I'm pretty sure it's gonna happen, though,» he said.
Would Immortals have been better served launching directly into a subscription service? Robbins said he doesn't know if this would have helped, or potentially made things worse.
Ascendant had to cut staff due to Immortals not living up to expectations, but the studio remains operational and is now making its next game--it hasn't been announced yet, however.
Also in the interview, Robbins said the competitive market might have played a role in Immortals coming up short, while the fact that it was a new IP also led to challenges. «I've never seen a year like this,» Robbins said. «Trying to create awareness for us was really, really difficult. It's always hard for a new IP and this year made it 10 times harder.»
Immortals is a single-player first-person «magic shooter» that focuses on a character named Jak, who is portrayed by Never Have I Ever actor Darren Barnet. GameSpot's Immortals of Aveum review scored the game a 5/10.

We wouldn't blame you for forgetting all about Arad Chronicle: Khazan — the action RPG that was announced over a year ago, back in November 2022. Developed by South Korean outfit Neople, the game takes place in the world of Dungeon Fighter Online — a popular PC title in Asian territories. And, well… we've heard nothing about the project since its reveal.

With Game Pass being as central to Xbox’s strategy as it has become over the years, it goes without saying that Microsoft has pumped a massive amount of money into the service, especially given how many third party titles the service features in its catalog (many of which launch day and date). How much money exactly, though?
Despite indications and rumours that Xbox might be keen on expanding its Game Pass offerings to also be available on PlayStation and Nintendo platforms, Microsoft Gaming boss Phil Spencer has revealed that the company doesn’t have any current plans to do it.
Earlier this week, a different Xbox executive said Microsoft's mission was to bring Game Pass to PlayStation and Nintendo.
Xbox Game Pass is adding 12 new titles to its December catalogue, including two day-one releases. The standout here has to be the Remnant franchise — both From the Ashes and its newly launched sequel Remnant II, celebrated for its souls-like shooter experience that pits players against tough-as-nails fantastical monsters, across procedurally-generated levels. Its challenges can also be tackled in co-op, so it's best advised that you check out the sequel because it will have a larger active player base. Another major addition this month is Far Cry 6, setting you against the vibrant tropical island of Yara to topple its ruthless dictator Antón Castillo (Giancarlo Esposito), who is hellbent on using the Viviro, an unstable form of cancer treatment, to restore his land to former glory. It arrives December 14 on Xbox Game Pass.
Ubisoft's Far Cry 6 is heading to Xbox Game Pass this month.
It’s been confirmed that more Resident Evil remakes will be made in the future, although it’s not currently known which classic horror game will be revamped next.
