Bethesda has released the hefty patch for Fallout 76 that removes a ton of bugs but weighs in at around 20 GB on console.
With all things Fallout now enjoying a significant boost following the breakout success of the Fallout TV show, Fallout 76 is enjoying a significant rise in player numbers. Last week, Bethesda announced that Fallout 76, its most recent mainline Fallout game, saw over one million people play in a single day.
Fallout 76 launched in November 2018 across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and was savaged by critics and players at release. However, over the last five years, Bethesda has worked to improve the game, turning around sentiment to such an extent that Fallout 76 now enjoys a ‘mostly positive’ user review rating on Steam. In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Bethesda development chief Todd Howard said Fallout 76 has been “sneaky popular” for the last three or four years.
Revealed in a blog post, the 1.7.11.12 patch weighs in at 12.1 GB on Steam, but its Microsoft Store counterpart is 19.8 GB. The PlayStation update download is similar at 19.2 GB, while Xbox takes the cake at 23.1 GB.
A handful of quality-of-life updates join the bug fixes. Bethesda has added a Max option when buying from and selling to NPCs, the World Activity list now sorts alphabetically, the inventory scrollbar is now improved, and an "Ammo Per Shot" stat entry has been added to weapons.
Speaking of, the Cremator weapon and its mods have received "several adjustments" as it was released with a bug that made it stronger than intended. It's been buffed in other ways to make up for this loss of power, however, with Bethesda saying its Damage Over Time is now a "force to be reckoned with."
The bulk of the update does come in its bug fixes though. Power Armor is no longer listed in English instead of the correct localized language, the Devils Wings Jetpack now has properly working lights, the Big Boss Advertisement poster no longer turns into a Mothman poster when broken, and more. Fallout 4 launched its long-awaited next-gen update last month, but it went down about as well as a nuke in Boston. Not only did it break most mods, players immediately ran into a slew of old bugs.
Bethesda is rolling out a new Fallout 4 update across all platforms on May 13, packing new graphic options, fixes, performance improvements, and more.
A Fallout 4 player recently shared a funny video in which they try to fight the Swan armed solely with a Baseball Bat, only to be smashed in a single blow. Fallout 4 has many enemies, but few are as memorable as the Swan, a huge Supermutant that can squash incautious players easily.
is littered with settlements for the Sole Survivor to both liberate and protect and while some of them can be rather challenging, one of the most disappointingly simple just became a whole lot more interesting. After joining forces with Preston Garvey and the Minutemen, players will be sent all over the Commonwealth to help people in need as they attempt to reform society. Sunshine Tidings Co-Op, a fairly large settlement that's been overrun by Feral Ghouls, is a little disappointing given the dullness of the encounter, but a new mod aims to fix that.
Fallout fans have widely praised the television show on Amazon Prime, and one Fallout 4 player in particular has chosen to recreate Norm MacLean as the Sole Survivor. Though the show sparked some initial controversy in the Fallout community due to a misunderstanding about how it fits into the timeline after Fallout: New Vegas, it has ultimately been embraced by a majority of fans – and perhaps most importantly – it brought a lot of new players to Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and even the older titles.
A Fallout 3 player recently noted that in the Japanese version of the game, the Cannibal perk is renamed «Mystic Power» and features a distinct description. This discovery has sparked discussions within theFallout 3 community, resulting in various explanations being put forward.
A Fallout 4 player has created an enormous junk-themed town within the game. Fallout 4 has had a huge increase in players recently, thanks in part to the renewed interest from the Fallout TV show on Amazon Prime. Fans have been getting involved in almost every Fallout title, from the original games to the more recent Fallout 76.
The madness of Fallout 4 is undoubtedly one of its biggest appeals. As you traverse a post-apocalyptic wasteland in search of your child, sometimes it's good to let off some steam, courtesy of some of the game's best weapons.
A Fallout 4 player has shared a clip of their character defeating two Yao Guai while unarmed. There are many ways to defeat the Fallout 4 bestiary, and the Yao Guai is a hurdle that unarmed players eventually have to overcome.
AFallout 4 player shares a clip in which Cait floats up to them as if she's swimming through the air. There are many Fallout 4 companions to choose from, and Cait has become a favorite with some players, but this may be the most bizarre thing that she's done.
Fallout fever is at an all-time high thanks to the new Amazon show, so much so that it's bleeding into other games.
