The turn based superhero game Capes, developed by Spitfire Interactive and published by Daedalic Entertainment, will be released on May 29th. Capes was originally slated to be released in 2023, but was delayed. To confirm the release date, a new trailer has been released showing gameplay that echoes the likes of Marvel’s Midnight Suns and XCOM.
In the world of Capes, the supervillains beat the superheroes, Twenty years after this victory, the streets of King City are not safe for the superpowered, with anyone suspected of having powers taken off of the streets. However, there are some that resist under the leadership of Doctrine. In Capes, players will recruit heroes to fight back against the oppression in King City and liberate it from the clutches of the villains. There is a mixture of story campaign missions to move the plot along, and smaller optional Patrol Missions where you can hone and learn the abilities of your characters.
A Capes King City Edition has been confirmed alongside the standard version of the game. Those who purchase the King City Edition will get access to 24 wallpapers, 8 alternate hero appearances, and a 54 page artbook. The full features of the game have been listed below.

We get a look at a new rural town and the activities you can get up to, like bounty hunting. Travel on your magic mech is compared to "camping", which I wasn't expecting. And there's lots of combat on show, with transitions from real-time to turn-based battles outlined in a bit more detail. Oh and it's coming out in October, which gives me plenty of time to clear my JRPG backlog before this inevitably takes over my entire existence for the foreseeable.
