CAPCOM's yearly financial report has been released, showing that the Japanese company has registered a new record of $979 million when it comes to net sales. It's a major increase (21%) year-over-year, and it also comes with a boost in operating income ($366 million, up 12.3% compared to last year) and ordinary income ($381 million, up 15.7% year-over-year).
CAPCOM managed to sell nearly 46 million units during the fiscal year that ended on March 31, which is also a historic record for the company. A lot of that was driven by the new games, with the Resident Evil 4 Remake selling 7 million units, Street Fighter 6 3.3 million units, and Dragon's Dogma 2 2.6 million units. However, backlog sales were also incredibly strong. Here's how much the biggest performers sold for CAPCOM in fiscal year 2024:
For the latter game, CAPCOM said it is the eighth consecutive year with at least one million units in sales. Next year, the Japanese publisher is forecasting net sales of around $1.059 billion and an operating income of around $411 million, which would mark the twelfth consecutive year of growth.
To achieve these lofty results, CAPCOM plans to release several major titles. The most likely candidates are Monster Hunter Wilds, Resident Evil 9, and Pragmata, while the smaller Kunitsugami: Path of the Goddess is also slated to launch this calendar year.
Speaking of Pragmata, CAPCOM insider Dusk Golem shared this basic overview on Discord:
Pragmata is about two robots who live on a failed attempt to colonize the moon, which was abandoned after robots & AI took over the moon & humans just disabled their ability to reach them on Earth rather than deal fully with the problem, and we play as two robots who are starting to become strikingly human through the robots evolving who desire to go to Earth. And yes, it's an action-narrative game.
