Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile has revealed its launch playlists, which include a mixture of battle royale and 6v6 modes. The anticipated release ofCall of Duty: Warzone Mobile is a significant step for the franchise, as it offers new features not available in the older Call of Duty Mobile.
More than a year after its initial announcement, Warzone Mobile's release date of March 21 was finally confirmed in February. Activision's announcement covered other details as well, like Warzone Mobile's cross-progression with standard Warzone and Modern Warfare 3, full controller support, and the return of Verdansk. A pre-release version of Warzone Mobile has been available to play in certain regions for some time, and its graphics look solid on higher-end phones.
In a recent post on the Call of Duty website, Activision laid out some playlists fans can expect to see come March 21. In addition to a standard Battle Royale mode that incorporates an increased player count of 120 users, it also features a mode called Mobile Royale, which incorporates better loot, more missions, and «faster combat.» Both modes are played on Warzone's classic Verdansk map. Also included is a Rebirth Resurgence playlist on Rebirth Island, a mode that allows users to redeploy throughout a match if certain requirements are met. Furthermore, Warzone Mobile features some of Call of Duty's traditional 6v6 modes in its Mosh Pit and Shoot the Ship playlists, where maps like Scrapyard, El Asilo, Hotel, Shipment, and Shoot House can be played.
Activision confirmed that some playlists will be rotated out with new ones throughout Warzone Mobile's lifespan, similar to standard Warzone and Modern Warfare 3's regular additions of new playlists. Warzone Mobile's cross-progression with the two games covers account levels and battle passes. So, if users have already purchasedCall of Duty's current battle pass, they automatically unlock the same pass in Warzone Mobile while maintaining their progression. Additionally, Mobile players can unlock five exclusive items as part of the current Season 2 battle pass once the game releases, but these items cannot be used on other platforms.
In an older, separate announcement, Activision also detailed Warzone Mobile's control options. The choices include touchscreen, a Backbone One controller, or Bluetooth controller. Call of Duty's official partnership with the Backbone One seems to be the strongest choice, although its price is a bit steep at $99. Alternatively, users can use Bluetooth-enabled controllers like the Xbox Wireless Controller or PlayStation 5 DualSense Wireless Controller, but their response times won't be as speedy as the Backbone.
