Well, it all started with the character reveal tweet. Just yesterday, the Japanese X (Twitter) account introduced Anson, a flashy new King George V Class battleship. But she didn’t exactly match her sisters’ sophisticated style.
Players weren’t quite thrilled about Azur Lane Anson’s look and called out the odd design choices. Some of them even questioned if Azur Lane’s promise that the Azur Promilia project wouldn’t impact the game was actually true. Azur Lane and its devs, Manjuu Games, have a reputation for keeping their ship designs on point. So, what went wrong with Azur Lane Anson? Within minutes of the fan outcry, team Azur swung into damage control mode. They pulled Azur Lane Anson’s intro tweet and the flashy banners featuring her off the web. They instead dropped an apology mentioning the pause on the character release.
In the case of Azure Lane? Never! It’s the first time since the game’s launch in 2017 that a character’s debut has been delayed over design complaints.
