NexusMods has removed a mod that aimed to make one of Baldur's Gate 3's most popular queer romances heterosexual in the wake of a backlash from fans.
The mod, which turned Dame Aylin into "Ser Aylin," used AI voices and other tricks to reimagine her as a man. The mod met with swift backlash, with one post on Reddit urging fans not to support the mod earning more than 17,000 upvotes. The post notes that the mod is included in a collection that, among other things, seeks to remove people of color from Larian's popular RPG.
In a post explaining the ban, NexusMods said that the mod violated the site's community rules by "appearing to reduce diversity in Baldur's Gate 3 by taking a same-sex couple and swapping the gender of one of the partners to make them heterosexual."
The post continues, "We are for inclusivity, we are for diversity. If we think someone is uploading a mod on our site with the intent to deliberately be against inclusivity and/or diversity then we will take action against it. The same goes for people attempting to troll other users with mods deliberately to cause a rise. We aren't the authority on what users can and cannot mod. Us removing a mod only means it cannot be found at Nexus Mods, nothing more, nothing less. As a private business, we have a right to choose what content we do and do not want to host on our platform. Respect this right the same way you want respect for your rights."
Warning: Spoilers for Baldur's Gate 3 Act 2
Dame Aylin appears in Baldur's Gate 3's Act 2, where she quickly reestablishes her romantic connection with Isobel, who you (hopefully) rescued at the Last Light Inn. Dame Aylin is a powerful and ferocious warrior driven in part by vengeance, but also by her love and loyalty to Isobel.
Since its release back in August, Baldur's Gate 3 has been hailed as one of the best games of 2023, having received multiple nominations at Thursday's Game Awards. Larian Studios recently released Patch 5, which among other things adds a brand-new playable epilogue. An Xbox release is expected by the end of the month.

Zack Fair will have an "immensely important" role in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
There were many things that Tears of the Kingdom “did right” upon its release. Regarding its story, one of its best acts was bringing Zelda to the past and having her interact with Hyrule’s first king and queen. As players would find out, the first king of Hyrule, Rauru, would have a huge role in the story, including saving Link from Ganondorf’s curse and helping him understand his new abilities. Polygon translated an interview with the game’s director, Hidemaro Fujibayashi, and the game’s producer, Eiji Aonuma, where the two commented on what it was like to make Rauru and the “two sides” of his character via the time periods gamers met him in. Fujibayashi started with:
When I played Baldur's Gate 3 back in the autumn, I decided to roll with a Dark Urge Paladin, and it was such a fascinating experience that I wrote a whole article about it. But to give you the notes, combining a class that's sworn to abide by justice with a character who just flippin' loves murder creates an incredible internal conflict, leading to a character arc which, for me, felt like the closest you could come to a canonical playthrough of BG3.
Baldur's Gate 3 is now available on Xbox, but don't expect it on Game Pass anytime soon. Speaking with IGN in an interview soon to be published in full, Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke explained why the award-winning role-playing game won't be part of Xbox's subscription service.
The most recent patch for adds two new gameplay settings, one of which is the ultra-difficult Honour Mode. It's one of two new modes added in Patch 5 of , in addition to the highly flexible Custom Mode. In many ways, it's similar to the hardest default difficulty setting in , Tactician Mode, but is far from a simple expansion thereof. In fact, it's so much harder, it includes a lengthy pop-up window warning about all the ways it can screw players over. It's less than ideal for a first playthrough, but could be interesting for a repeat or challenge run.
Larian Studios had a hell of a night at 2023’s The Game Awards, notching six wins for Baldur’s Gate 3, including Game of the Year. However, that wasn’t all the Baldur’s Gate 3 news for the night, as Larian Studios took to Twitter shortly after the TGAs to announce that BG3 was now available on the Xbox Series X.
Lethal Company has proved that you don't need fantastic graphics and a big budget to scare the living daylights out of people.
The Game Awards last night had many different appearances, but one that only had a smaller showing was Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Many people expected a full-on trailer to be shown because the game was only a few months away, but we only got a partial trailer in conjunction with the orchestra playing the game’s official theme song in “No Promises To Keep.” But, thankfully, Square Enix was willing to pick up the slack for that and released a more complete trailer showing off not only the footage from The Game Awards but also more in-depth cutscenes with new characters and teases of the future.
