Baldur’s Gate 3 is already listed in the top 10 best games of all time, but will it stay there?

Choices are hard, especially when you’re creating your ideal character in a massive RPG with hundreds of customization options based on long-running Dungeons and Dragons traditions. Even though you’ve finally settled on your race and appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3, giving your half-orc beefcake just the right amount of facepaint, you’ve still got to pick your class and eventually your subclass… and there are so many options!

Larian Studios had much to discuss in its recent Steam Community post for Baldur’s Gate 3, from confirming major performance improvements with Patch 2 to discussing “cut content.” It also outlined its plans, which are to continue monitoring bugs and patch them “as fast as we can.”

Baldur's Gate 3's second patch is right around the corner, with Larian Studios suggesting that it's a ‘chonky' one. In a community update post on Steam, the developer revealed that the patch will be focused on improving performance issues, specifically in Act 3, where players have reported laggy cutscenes and stutters when the camera pans around. In addition to fixing bugs that halted quest progression, our companion, the cheerful Tiefling Karlach, will be getting a new optional ending — a closure that is described as ‘fiery' and ‘poignant'. The lengthy blog post also touches upon some cut content that was discovered recently by data miners, some of which have now been revealed as a consequence of bugs.

Larian Studios’ next patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 is “around the corner,” per a recent tweet from the developer. It offers “major” improvements to performance and several new tweaks and changes. More importantly, it “begins our journey incorporating feedback into Origin Character epilogues, among other major things.”

The beauty of Dungeons & Dragons lies in its immersive role-playing structure that bestows upon you the role of an author, but you never truly know where the story is headed. The hype around Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) and its success is drawing players across the globe to the game. Many players are concerned if they will enjoy the game if they do not have any experience with Dungeons and Dragons or Baldur’s Gate games. Though it seemed for a while that Baldur’s Gate 3 might not be able to hit Xbox Series X/S util next year, Larian Studios recently confirmed that the acclaimed RPG will indeed be coming to Xbox in 2023, with splitscreen co-op not supported on Xbox Series S. The studio also confirmed that the game’s Xbox version will support cross-saves with PC, though Larian Studios’ director of publishing Michael Douse has since then clarified that that won’t be all.

Baldur's Gate III will be coming to Xbox consoles this year after all. In a tweet, Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke confirmed that he and Xbox head Phil Spencer had found a solution to bring the critically acclaimed CRPG to Microsoft's current-gen consoles. There's one catch though: the game won't support split-screen co-op on the less-expensive Xbox Series S — a feature the developer has been struggling to enable for months now, thanks to the technical limitations of the console. In fact, to maintain parity of features between Baldur's Gate 3 on the Xbox Series S and X, Microsoft even sent engineers from their side to help out Larian.

Developer Larian has announced that PS5 players can start pre-loading critically-acclaimed RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 on August 31 in preparation of the game’s September 6 release date on the console. The pre-load is only available to those who pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe edition of the game.

Baldur's Gate III is prepared to receive its first patch and by the looks of it, it seems like a huge one. Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke confirmed a roadmap on Twitter, promising to fix issues and make relevant tweaks to ability balances, based on user suggestions. First up, is hotfix #4, which would make some emergency fixes to crashes and progressions blocks, in addition to any bugs that hinder the general interface. That will be followed by the massive patch, boasting over 1,000 fixes, followed by patch 2, which will ‘incorporate some requests.' It's unclear what those requests could be, but we already know that the team is planning an update that would let players change their character's appearance mid-game.

Larian boss Swen Vincke has revealed that the studio is currently working on a number of updates to critically-acclaimed RPG Baldur’s Gate 3. Among updates coming to the game, it is slated to get Hotfix 4, its first major patch with over 1,000 fixes and tweaks, and a second patch that will bring in some fan-requested features to the game.
