If you want to make the most of your Ranger in Baldur's Gate 3, my build guide is all you need.

Rangers in Baldur’s Gate 3 are very versatile combatants. They can engage in melee combat with dual wield or two-handed weapons, or attack from range with both projectile weapons and spells. To make the most of your Ranger, you will need to choose one of those avenues, however, because while Rangers are a solid class, they quickly fall off on power if you try to do too many things at once.
For my money, the best Ranger build in Baldur’s Gate 3 is Beast Master. This specialization gives you the Ranger’s Companion spell, which allows you to summon an additional party member to aid you in combat. From tanking bears, to damaging wolves and a whole lot more, splitting focus in Baldur’s Gate 3 can give you breathing room that can spell the difference between winning and losing.
I opted to focus on a build that avoids multiclassing for this guide, but if you want to multiclass, I do have recommendations, and you're able to respec and change classes when you see fit, which is a nice bonus.
Picking up a few ranks in Fighter can be great to gain weapon and armor proficiency, as well as their very flexible, multi-attack Battle Master sub-class feat. This is especially true if you are doing a melee build. Bard or Rogue are solid options for adding more functionality, and Cleric or Druid are great if you want to branch out and learn more spells.
You have some options as you level up, so we’ll highlight the best choice first (to lean into our preferred range weapon Beast Master build), but also highlight some other great options for those who want to do different versions of Beast Master, which includes melee fighting options.
As mentioned in my Ranger Class Guide, Elf (Wood Elf sub-race) is the best pick for Ranger, with starting bonuses to Longbows, Shortbows, Longswords, Shortswords, and more.

We’ve previously shared some tips on how to survive the Slaughter Family‘s attempts at catching victims in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, so now we’re about to share some tips on how to make Johnny a better killer in an attempt to even the odds — just kidding, Johnny will become rather overpowered and Victim players will hate us for it.
Baldur's Gate 3 has a pretty cool selection of companions for you to choose from, each with their own unique charms and quirks that makes travelling around with them and watching them interact with each other an absolute joy. However, a certain blunt Githyanki has caused somewhat of a stir on social media this past week, as some believe Lae'zal's status as the game's least popular companion is because female characters are held to a much higher standard than male ones.
Throughout Baldur's Gate 3, you will spend time with a strange skeleton at camp. He's called Withers, and not much is known about him other than the fact he can respec your class and summon the dead to fight for you. But given his scene at the end of the game and the tomb you find him in, there's clearly more to Withers than meets the eye.
Being forcibly impregnated with a brain-eating, body-disfiguring parasite doesn’t seem like the best of times in Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s so bad that every character you meet (and likely their Nan) will tell you just how bad it is, and how close you are to suddenly vomiting tentacles. Stressful doesn’t quite do the situation justice.
It’s no secret that Baldur’s Gate 3 is overflowing with content. Every corner is filled with a secret side quest that’s pretty easy to miss. After all, platinum-ing the game would take no less than 200 hours. Still, with the excitement of all the new mechanics, characters, and world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and start skipping content.
Not everything in Baldur’s Gate is entirely true, and you might learn this while reading Baldur’s Mouth as you’re exploring Baldur’s Gate 3. The city’s newspaper likes to embellish some details, especially if a story is particularly good. During the final act of Baldur’s Gate 3, there’s a character named Estra Stir who you can speak with, and it turns out she’s a journalist for the Baldur’s Mouth.
While Baldur’s Gate 3 is not going to be locked to PC forever, for the time being, it’s the only way to play. This means if you want to play this titanic RPG by Larian Studios, you are going to have boot up your dusty potato and check the system requirements. Nobody wants to get hyped for a game only to find out their brick is, well, just a brick.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is jam-packed with meaningful player choices and copious amounts of decision-making. One of the earliest things players are asked to do is to pick a class for their hero to embody. While this isn’t a permanent choice, it is one that will impact your gameplay quite drastically. The Paladin is one such class.
Shadowheart has one of the most fleshed-out Companion Quests in BG3, so to get the most out of her story, we have our Baldur's Gate 3 Shadowheart companion guide, including how to save her on the Nautiloid, her location, build, best equipment and weapons and choices explained.
Though Scaramouche first appeared in Version 1.1 of Genshin Impact, he did not become playable until Version 3.3. Now going by the Wanderer – or whatever you decide to name him – he’s traded Electro for Anemo. You should take advantage of the Wanderer’s Swirl reactions since he gains buffs based on which elements react with his attacks. To get the most out of his damage, avoid putting the Wanderer on Dendro teams – Hyperbloom is an exception.
