Apple has plans to jump into the robotics category, with an earlier report stating that the company’s engineers are exploring a machine that can move around a person’s home and perform daily tasks such as washing dishes. While the technology giant can form grand plans on how it will enter a certain market, it is not necessary that it arrives early, and assuming that it does, immediate success is not guaranteed. In the latest report, people familiar with the matter said that the firm could get into a new section, but it would take years to commercialize a product.
Even after the failed ‘Project Titan’ self-driving car venture, Apple’s ambitions have not faded. In fact, the company has certain team members from hardware engineering and AI working on top-secret products, with one of them possibly being the development of an intelligent machine that can carry out a series of tasks. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has stated the following in his ‘Power On’ newsletter, highlighting that while Apple can dive into making such a product, it is likely years away.
If Apple has a few team members from different divisions working on a mobile robot, then it is likely that the company is yet to be ‘all in’ on this endeavor. This might be why Gurman mentions that the California-based titan’s current priority is bringing incremental updates to its current lineup. Side-by-side, Apple is likely focused on bringing new innovations to its major revenue generator, the iPhone, to maintain its dominant position in the market.
For instance, the iPhone 17 family, which is said to launch in 2026, could see all models being treated to an LTPO panel, giving all handsets access to a high refresh rate option, which Apple markets as ProMotion. Then again, the idea of introducing a robot that can perform human-like chores sounds exciting, but we will revisit this report once Apple has made meaningful progress in this category.

The success of the Nintendo Switch has clearly inspired the rest of the major players in the video game world to give handheld gaming another try, or in some cases a first try. The Steam Deck has been a hit, and there are rumors that Xbox might be dipping its toe into the handheld gaming world in the future. PlayStation went a different route despite having previous when it comes to handheld consoles by releasing the Portal, and it has been more popular than anyone could have imagined.
Apple is expected to rely on China for a reliable supply chain for the foreseeable future, and though the company has successfully established manufacturing plants outside of the country, it will take years before the technology giant can claim complete independence from the region. Now, according to its 2023 supplier list, Apple has added eight new supply chain members from China while removing four of them due to undisclosed reasons.
Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, or ASE, has reportedly won an exclusive order from Apple to supply two SiPs, or ‘system in a package’ for the upcoming iPhone 16 series. These chips will serve to replace both the volume and power buttons on the upcoming handsets, presenting capacitive buttons that will deliver extra functionality.
Ben Starr, the actor behind Final Fantasy 16's Clive Rosfield (the best Final Fantasy protagonist, if you didn't know) has called out Final Fantasy 12 for having the worst version of Cid in the series.
Yep, that new CE-27 Ground Breaker armor released as part of the latest Helldivers 2 Warbond really was meant to have a different passive installed, and the devs at Arrowhead are already working on a fix to make things right.
25 years ago, Nintendo began to promote an action-adventure game called Riqa, but that game quickly disappeared from the public eye and vanished into obscurity. But now, the game is back and playable thanks to one of the original devs at the defunct UK developer Bits Studios.
It might not be very democratic to say it, but it's always been pretty obvious that Helldivers 2's prosperous planet of Super Earth might not be the kindest place in the universe. From the game's in-universe propaganda, the denial of information like the existence of flying bugs, and the fact that Helldivers are treated so poorly, the signs have always been there – just don't tell them I said that.
Apple News is testing a new game for iOS 17.5 called Quartiles, which requires players to organize a grid of 20 syllables into 5 four-syllable words. Spotted by Gadget Hacks, the interface for Quartiles looks a lot like the New York Times’ newest hit, Connections. Did Apple News sherlock the New York Times?
Genius Pokemon players have somehow uncovered an RNG exploit in Scarlet and Violet that allows you to generate infinite rare items – including Master Balls – just by changing the date and time on your Nintendo Switch.
Saber Interactive has confirmed they are still working on the next Painkiller game, but with one big change.
The deck-fixing roguelikelike poker of Balatro is chuffing excellent, no doubt, but my main criticism has been that the higher difficulty modes are just a bit boring. Having beat them myself, I didn't find them a fun or interesting challenge as much as an annoying one that required too much to go right. I'm glad to hear that they're being tweaked in an upcoming patch, which you can now test in a public beta on Steam, and even the lowest difficulty setting will be tweaked. Other changes include improved (hopefully) Steam Deck performance, balance tweaks, and better Joker-related Tags.
