Many fans consider Malenia to be the toughest boss in all of Elden Ring, but there are three bosses that have been beaten even fewer times. Like FromSoftware's other games, Elden Ring is notable for its high difficulty level and memorable boss battles. The game's open world is filled with all kinds of exciting boss encounters, though only a handful are necessary for those that want to beat the game.
Elden Ring features a massive open world to explore, but the main through-line isn't all that long. If players were to only complete the game's required areas and fight the required bosses, it's possible to beat the game relatively fast. Doing so means missing out on a lot of compelling content, including some of Elden Ring's best boss fights. And as it so happens, it seems that a lot of Elden Ring players have skipped three of the game's fights.
Based on the game's Xbox achievement stats, three of the game's bosses have been skipped by the vast majority of players, even more so than Malenia. Whereas 19.38% of Elden Ring players on Xbox have defeated Malenia, only 17.57% have beaten Mohg, the Omen. 14.60% have defeated Dragonlord Placidusax, and finally, 14.17% have vanquished Lichdragon Fortissax. Stats may vary somewhat on other platforms, but they should be roughly the same. It should be noted that this doesn't mean that these bosses are harder than Malenia. A more likely explanation is that more Elden Ring players simply stumbled on Malenia as opposed to the other three, or perhaps sought Malenia out specifically because of her reputation as the game's hardest boss.
Those interested in hunting down these bosses can find Mohg in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, while Dragonlord Placidusax is found at Crumbling Farum Azula, and Lichdragon Fortissax is found in the Deeproot Depths. Since Lichdragon Fortissax is tied to an optional quest and requires players to use a secret coffin to teleport to this location, it makes sense that it is the boss most players have skipped.
Some players may be surprised about Mohg, the Omen not being beaten more times than Malenia, but that's because they are probably confusing him with Shardbearer Mohg. Shardbearer Mohg is the more commonly encountered version of the boss, found in Mohgwyn Palace. It's highly likely that more Elden Ring players will be beating Shardbearer Mohg in the near future, as it looks like defeating him will be a prerequisite to getting into the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
The Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is launching June 21, and it seems that Shardbearer Mohg's boss room is how players will access it. Fans will find out when the Elden Ring DLC drops in just a couple months time.
