Nintendo seems to be all in on the nostalgia at the moment, as it recently announced a remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door during the latest Nintendo Direct, a game that some consider to be the pinnacle of Mario's RPG outings. The announcement came with a chunky gameplay trailer, in which we see multiple location from across the game gussied up for Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Switch is in the final stages of its lifecycle, but it still has a number of major games in the pipeline. One in particular that was recently announced and has a lot of people very excited is a remake of the beloved GameCube classic, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. From what we saw in its reveal trailer at the recent Direct, it seems to be taking promising shape so far- though it looks like the game will have a caveat on the technical front that many might find disappointing.

Titanfall 2 has quietly gotten a patch to address the game's long-standing server issues, and a few other teasers from developer Respawn have fans hopeful that something bigger for one of the best FPS games ever made is on the way.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is getting a remake, and a tiny detail in the new trailer has fans hopeful that we might finally be seeing the end of what's been called the "Mario mandate."

Another Code: Two Memories, or Trace Memory as it's known in North America, is a Nintendo DS game that launched on the handheld device way back in 2005. Its sequel, Another Code: R – Journey Into Lost Memories, launched on the Wii in 2009, but it never came to North America. Now, players can experience both games when Another Code: Recollection hits Switch in January. 

Nintendo and the Paper Mario fanbase have not had the healthiest relationship for some time now. Most fans consider the series to have peaked with the Gamecube title Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and since then, Nintendo seems to have largely tried to get away from what that game represents, toning down both the series’ tongue-in-cheek writing and its RPG elements.
