Reflector Entertainment debuted a new trailer for Unknown 9: Awakening, its mysterious action-adventure announced in 2020. Not only is it coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, but it’s launching this Summer. Check out the first gameplay below.
Players control Haroona, who possesses powerful abilities tied to the Fold, like a barrier that stops bullets and leaping into and controlling her enemies. You can play stealthy, engage in full-blown combat or combine the two while mixing some abilities in.
Haroona is looking for revenge after a “life-changing loss”, but it quickly becomes a “globetrotting journey, uncovering powerful hidden knowledge.” She’ll eventually battle the Ascendants, led by Vincent Lichter, and stop them from utilizing the Fold for their own purposes.
Published by Bandai Namco, Unknown 9: Awakening is seemingly a “gateway to the larger narrative world of Unknown 9, a universe encompassing a set of interconnected stories told across different media formats. The game’s lore seeps into every tale set within this world.” How that will pan out over the long term remains to be seen but Reflector has “dedicated much time to ironing out specific details and features to get the overarching story and its resulting experience just right.”
Unknown 9: Awakening will receive more details before its launch this Summer, so stay tuned for more gameplay over the coming months.

Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Spike Chunsoft have released a new trailer and 13-minute gameplay showcase video for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, introducing new and returning gameplay elements and 11 new playable characters.
New IP fans, rejoice! Unknown 9: Awakening, the debut project from developer Reflector, is coming this year. You might remember the teaser trailer from Gamescom a few years ago that turned some heads, and after taking a first look at an hour of gameplay, I left eager to get some hands-on time with it and dive deeper. Any day we get to take a break from playing sequels and explore uncharted territory is a good day, and with some serious thought put into an all-new universe and a psychically souped-up protagonist with some interesting combat abilities, this third-person action-adventure definitely has potential.

Back in late 2020 new Montreal-based studio Reflector Entertainment made a bit of splash when they revealed Unknown 9: Awakening at The Game Awards. Reflector also had ambitious plans for a full Unknown 9 multimedia universe with novels, comics, and more announced. Annnd then we didn’t really hear anything further about Unknown 9 for years, to the point many suspected it was vaporware.
