Tinder wants to make sure you look your most attractive in the photos you post on the app, and it’s enlisting the help of artificial intelligence to make it happen.
In its Q2 earnings letter Wednesday the company said it wanted to create new features that would support the needs of Gen Z users, one of the phone features, AI-enabled photo selection, will help you select the five best photos of yourself to use in your dating profile.
On the call, CEO Bernard Kim said that users who join Tinder often get stuck when it comes to uploading photos and are unsure what to share that will represent them the best of the service. The feature is designed to take a bit of the guesswork out of creating the perfect profile on the service, and make onboarding new users happen a bit faster.
Photo selection isn’t the only place where AI might make an appearance.
The company also has plans to use AI to propose ideal matches for users. Beyond just sharing that individual’s profile, the app will explain why it thinks that person is a good match. The hope of the feature is that users will be able to spend less time swiping left or right in the app and more time connecting with potential matches.
Tinder is owned by Match group, which also owns OKCupid and Hinge.
Within the Earnings letter the company showed off the AI match suggesting feature which included an image of a potential match along with the caption “Get ready for endless laughter with this witty charmer who shares your love for brunch, scary movies, and a laid-back approach to life!”
During the Reuters Momentum event last month, Tinder CPO Mark Van Rswyk said that it found that a third of its members would “absolutely” user AI to help them build a profile on the app, TechCrunch reports(Opens in a new window).
The features also wouldn’t be the first AI tools used by the app. Last month Tinder rolled out an AI-powered verification feature that requires users to upload a selfie in an effort to combat catfishers and scammers.

I wasn't expecting the sudden return of Crimson Desert to steal the show at Gamescom Opening Night Live, but this explosive new trailer showing off a frankly astounding amount of gameplay variety was extremely impressive.
Alan Wake 2 has looked like the sequel we’ve all been waiting for in all that’s been shown so far, and as promised, Remedy Entertainment brought the survival horror title to Gamescom Opening Night Live with another new showing. In scenes reminiscent of a convoluted codec conversation, Konami has been tying itself up in knots about what exactly players can expect from Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 1. It's now issued a statement to VGC clarifying the target spec for the games is 1080p and 60FPS on PC, following erroneous reports (based on what Konami reps said) that the games would be running at lower resolutions and framerates.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is promising a much denser and more compact experience than its predecessors, and with its promise of a more classic-style Assassin’s Creed experience, it’s also going back to a single-city setting. Set in 9th century Baghdad, the upcoming open world title’s choice of setting has got plenty of series fans excited, and in a newly released (and final) behind-the-scenes video, the game’s development team has dropped new details on what we can expect from Mirage’s recreation of the city.

Space is mostly dark and empty, yet it is marked by the most stunning colors and that is what Artechouse Studio is exhibiting in its latest show. But these visual spectacles are not randomly placed, they tell a story — the story of our universe. And this theme is being explored by Artechouse, an institution that combines art and technology to create immersive and experiential exhibitions. It is running a show called Beyond The Light that explores the artistic expression of “unseen depths of our universe”. Artechouse has collaborated with NASA for this exhibition and uses the data collected from its space telescopes such as the James Webb Space Telescope to create the show. It also used AI-aided visual production to bring that data to life.
