Tencent axes Team Kaiju studio

The arrival of LuckCatchers2 on Steam marks a step forward for the team after they ended development of LuckCatchers in 2021 and shut down the servers June 1st, 2023. The game intends to build on the marginal success of its predecessor with the sequel expanding the open-world experience.

Developer Jukai Studio, the team behind the poorly received horror title Stray Souls, has announced its closure several months after releasing the game on PS5 and PS4. In a statement, the developer cites the surprise closure of publisher Versus Evil as a contributing factor, in addition to relentless cyber attacks, bullying, and disappointing sales.

The Silent Hill 2 remake is likely content complete and in its polishing phase, as developer Bloober Team is shifting its focus on other projects.

Jukai Studio announced its closure over the holidays, despite launching its horror survival title Stray Souls last October.

 China approved 105 domestic games on Monday, the latest indication that Beijing is softening its stance after its move to tighten industry restrictions led to a $80 billion rout last week. Chinese regulators have announced far-reaching curbs on monetisation and reward systems for online games, in a move that has wiped almost $80 billion from the market value of the world's biggest videogame publisher Tencent and their rival NetEase. Under the new government restrictions, which are pending final approval, online games in China will be banned from giving players rewards for logging in every day, spending money within the game for the first time, or spending money several times consecutively.

The folks over at Bloober Team are throwing together a new title, but this time, the franchise is through one of the IPs by Skybound Entertainment. It’s been unveiled that the development studio has partnered up with Skybound Entertainment for this next big game release. However, that’s about all we know right now about the game. With Bloober Team known for delivering horror gameplay experiences, it would be hard to see the studio partnered up with an IP not centered around a horror storyline.
