Revealed last week, PlayStation Portal is Sony's own answer to remote play on PS5. In other words, it allows players to stream their PS5 games to an eight inch, 1080p screen with DualSense functionality attached to it. Retailing at $199.99 / £199.99 / €219.99, there's been a lot of discussion around whether it's a cost-effective solution to what seems to be a pretty niche problem.

Tekken 8 got a bit of an information blowout during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The title's latest trailer confirms a whole bunch of returning characters, and lifts the curtain on a brand new single player mode that takes inspiration from the arcade scene. In it, you'll create your own cartoony avatar and fight your way to the top. It all takes place in a hub-like arcade centre, and AI learning will apparently be utilised to keep your battles interesting. Cool!

Update: Tekken 8 will indeed release on the 26th January, as per the game's latest trailer.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is the latest entry in the mech series from FromSoftware, released following the likes of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring. It launched for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on 25th August 2023. In our Armored Core 6 PS5 review, we awarded the game a 7/10 and praised it for admirably wedding «satisfying combat with extensive mech customisation».

The real news is that Tekken 8 will bring back the all-important Jukebox Mode (thanks, @Yellow_Motion), which lets you play music from every previous Tekken title. You can also replace stage music with old tracks, if you want.

Phasmophobia, the multiplayer ghost hunting horror game that took PC by storm, is heading to PS5 soon, with full PSVR2 support to boot. However, it won't be coming quite as soon as expected. Originally planned for a release in August, developer Kinetic Games has delayed the launch to October.

Gamescom's Opening Night Live event was briefly derailed when a man invaded the stage, interrupting host and producer Geoff Keighley. The man appeared to repeat the phrase “Bill Clinton wants to play GTA 6" several times before being led away by security.

In case you weren't aware, the majority of retro games on PS Plus Premium are available for individual purchase. This means that, if you buy them, you won't need to remain a Premium member in order to play them. Playing them at no extra cost is great of course, but if you want the extra security, it's nice that most games offer the option to buy them. Unfortunately, there are a few outliers, but a bunch of them have recently made the switch, and can now be bought.
