After numerous delays, the anticipated System Shock remake launched on PC to solid reviews and enthusiastic fan response early last year, but when do console players get in on the retro cyberpunk fun? Developer Nightdive Studios have always said a console version of the new System Shock was in the works (which sets it apart from the PC-only original) but have been a bit cagey about when it might arrive.
Well, thankfully, the wait is almost over! Today Nightdive and publisher Prime Matter announced that System Shock is coming to both PlayStation and Xbox in May, roughly a year after the game’s release on PC. You can check out a fresh console trailer for the game, featuring plenty of the game’s trademark neon colors of splattering blood, below.

Sadly, no word yet on whether a physical edition of System Shock may arrive now that the game is coming to console, but I have a feeling Limited Run Games or somebody similar may step in and provide. Haven’t been keeping up with the System Shock remake? Wccftech’s Ule Lopez found it to be a very solid remake in his full review…
“The System Shock remake offers a lot of great graphical enhancements and beautiful stylistic choices that make for an overall enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, it's dragged back by several aspects that haven't aged well over the years. [The new System Shock] a solid remake that should lay the foundations for what modern gaming should bring to the future. While it does have its rough edges, it's still a more than enjoyable experience all around that, while frustrating due to its design, can still offer a few hours of entertainment as an action game with cyber-horror elements.”

While Microsoft has tried to put a happy face on things, the future of Xbox – at least Xbox as a distinct brand with its own hardware and exclusives – has never been more in question. Last month Microsoft tried to calm worries with an Xbox Business Update, in which they revealed several older, smaller-scale games were going multiplatform, but that others, like Starfield, aren’t for now. Furthermore, they vowed to continue working on new hardware which will, apparently, deliver the “largest technical leap ever” (how they plan to deliver on that boast, I don’t know).

Upon its release for PC last March, Bleak Faith: Forsaken was quickly met with poor reviews, with many players frustrated by its clunky controls and bugs. Despite once being called a ‘technical nightmare,’ the game has since risen from the ashes, now being lauded by many as a worthy addition to the growing indie soulslike genre. Now, even more aspiring players will be able to get their hands on the title when it releases for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
