New details about Nintendo’s Switch successor have reportedly surfaced.
Long-running Spanish video games website Vandal claims to have received information about the console from sources at peripherals manufacturers.
According to the site, Switch 2’s Joy-Con controllers will attach to the console magnetically. As current Joy-Cons connect to Switch using a rail system, it’s unclear if they’ll be forwards compatible with the new console.
The existing Nintendo Switch Pro Controller will work with Switch 2, it’s claimed.
It’s worth noting that prior to Switch OLED’s reveal in 2021, Vandal accurately reported on some of the console’s features, such as the inclusion of a new stand and an ethernet port.
VGC reported in February that Nintendo had internally delayed the launch of its next-gen console from this year to early 2025.
One publishing source suggested the delay was so that it could prepare stronger first-party software for the console, while others have claimed the move was made to avoid potential hardware supply issues.
VGC also reported last summer that development kits for Switch 2 were in the hands of key partner studios.
Two sources VGC spoke to at the time suggested that the console could launch with an LCD screen, instead of the more premium OLED, in order to bring down costs, especially considering the increased storage needed for higher fidelity games.

It’s been five years since Game of Thrones ended and a good while since we had a decent video game based on George RR Martin’s fantasy writings that aren’t Elden Ring lore. Yet it seems that Game of Thrones’ cultural cachet still has enough draw to inspire new games of its own. And not just an arguably underrated-if-also-not-particularly-great action-adventure RPG or fairly okay Telltale adventure game, either, but a whole honest-to-goodness Game of Thrones MMO currently in development, according to new rumours.
A pair of recent reports have suggested that Nintendo’s successor to the Switch console — which we, along with everyone else, are calling Switch 2 for now — will have Joy-Con controllers that attach to the body of the device using strong, electronically-controlled magnets, rather than the sliding rail system used by the Switch.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will undergo minor changes in appearance over the current dock, but under the hood, it will pack some significant improvements, according to a new report.
Switch peripheral maker Mobapad claims to have new information on the Switch 2, particularly with regards to its controllers.
New hardware details for Nintendo's successor appear to have leaked, reportedly revealing features for its controllers, screen and more.
Nintendo is said to have pushed the launch of its next-generation console, with reports from earlier this year claiming that the successor to the Nintendo Switch would be released in early 2025. Little is known about the Nintendo Switch 2, but the console will likely retain the hybrid design of its predecessor and is expected to come with a larger screen. Now, new details about Nintendo's upcoming console have reportedly surfaced.
