Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's player count is falling on Steam, going as low as 916 earlier this week. This comes exactly two weeks since its all-time peak of 13,459 players online at once, whereas the game now averages a player count of around 2,000, regularly dipping below 1,000.
Taking the 24-hour player peak of 2,007 into account, this is a drop off of around 85 percent in just two weeks. While this doesn't include the player count across all platforms, it suggests that many aren't sticking with the game long after purchasing it, which may be an issue given its live service ambitions.
These figures come from SteamDB, and give us an idea of how the game is performing on PC. We don't know what kind of player count figures Rocksteady was expecting after launch, but by any measure, this is likely to be a disappointing result.
Of course, there are multiple seasons worth of content mapped out for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, so it's far from over just yet. The first season will start next month and brings back both The Joker and Arkham Asylum. The Joker will even be playable, so it's very possible that this will bring back some players who have dropped off before spending much time with the base game.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League got off to a rough start even before it launched. While it attracted a lot of hype when it was revealed, many were disappointed to see that it's full of live service elements, like microtransactions and seasonal-based events.
When it launched, players could access the game three days early by purchasing the $100 Deluxe Edition. A day of this early access period was lost when the game had to be taken offline due to a bug that presented players with fully completed story modes, despite them never launching the game before. Anyone affected by this was given $20 worth of the in-game currency to use, at least, which comes to 2,000 LuthorCoins.
Rocksteady will likely be hoping that the first season brings back some fans, particularly as the player count figures show no sign of improving on their own right now. We don't have a release date for this new content just yet, but we know that the next big update will be sometime in March.
