Pony Island 2: Panda Circus 'is not a game about ponies'

Thirsty Suitors started out as a concept surrounding a playable card game, its director has revealed.

That's the setup for Abiotic Factor, an upcoming solo to six-player survival game that you can playtest for free, right now, via Steam.

Mouse, an upcoming classic first-person shooter sporting a vintage rubber hose animation style, turned heads in May with its first look at gameplay. Although that initial showing was very much a work in progress, today’s video offers a more polished look at what’s to come.

Gawd, it's like hyping yourself up before diving into a freezing cold ice lake. Okay, okay, okay. Brave face. Hey, it's time for The Game Awards 2023, everybody! Towards the end of every year, we all get to enjoy (or in our case, give up our evenings and ruin our fingers to the tune of) one of the gaming industry's biggest events. The game that started it all and brought Daniel Mullins’ name to the forefront of wierd, wonderful and downright unusual meta-narrative games, Pony Island, is getting a sequel. Seven years on from when the brilliant 2016 game released, the teaser for what Mullins was concocting was, in typical fashion, a surreal one. A mixture of art-styles, from pixel art to polygonal early-3D graphics to FMV-styled cutscenes, ran amok amid a game that too looked to be hopping from one genre to the next.

Daniel Mullins — the creator behind the acclaimed likes of Inscryption and The Hex — is back with a sequel to his celebrated 2016 oddity Pony Island. It's called Pony Island 2: Panda Circus and is coming Steam at some currently undisclosed future point.

Now we’re cooking. Terrific, demonic rhythm-basher THUMPER is getting a sequel of sorts called THRASHER, created by the first game's artist and composer Brian Gibson. It’s a weirdo racer in which you use gesture controls to evolve the creature you're controlling, in a “breakneck race for survival that begins at the dawn of time”. Which is certainly a concept. Will there be any flying hell triangles in this one? Will my thumbs be able to keep up, seven years after almost breaking them against the sneering face of THUMPER's world 3?

During the game awards, Daniel Mullins Games, the creator of Pony Island and Inscryption announced their next game, Pony Island 2: Panda Circus.

Harmonium The Musical is a new game developed by The Odd Gentlemen. The game, developed with inclusivity in mind, doesn’t yet have a release date, but is slated to come to Netflix Games and Xbox Game Pass. Check out the trailer below.
