Even with the imminent release and abundance of information about its upcoming products, new information has been shared. According to a new report by , the Teal Mask Ogerpon promo card that will be included in all Elite Trainer Box (ETB) products will have a unique effect: a glitter layer.
The card can be seen in a post made on the account on X. This special glitter layer, as pointed out by the outlet, has always been reserved for cards with a very high rarity. Now, the new Ogerpon promo card in , which is a simple Illustration Rare, will receive the effect.
also points out that this will be the first Illustration Rare to feature the glitter layer effect and the first glitter card printed in English without a texture.
The addition of a glitter layer to what is an Illustration Rare may end up opening doors for more cards like it moving forward. While the glitter layer is an effect that is usually reserved for rarer cards in sets, its addition to special promo cards, obtainable through exclusive products like Elite Trainer Boxes can be an extra incentive to acquire these pricier sets.

The extra glitter layer fits in perfectly with the artwork for the Ogerpon promo card in, based on the image that was shared. The effect does not seem to be spread across the entire card but seems concentrated on the left side, where the card is a bit darker in nature. This helps contrast with the bright illustrated sunlight emerging from the right side of the Ogerpon promo card.
This glittery effect adds extra value to the card, whose illustration alone was already reason enough to make it a valuable acquisition for both players and collectors of. It is uncertain if the Ogerpon promo card with the glitter layer will affect future promo cards, but it does open the precedent to make these featured cards even more special.
