Metaphor: ReFantazio has revealed a release date of October 11 and showcased more gameplay. Metaphor: ReFantazio is the next release from the creators of Persona that will take players through a medieval world. Set in the United Kingdom of Euchronia, a nation of three countries inhabited by eight tribes, the story of Metaphor: ReFantazio begins with chaos ensuing after the king is killed.
It is then that players meet the protagonist and his companion, the fairy Galica, who together must break the curse on the kingdom's prince, whom everyone believes to be dead. To do this, the pair must take part in a tournament for the throne, which will lead them to form allies with people from various tribes, such as Strohl from the Clemar tribe, Hulkenberg from the Roussainte, and Heismay from the Eusgief. The hype surrounding Metaphor: ReFantazio is already great, and to increase players' excitement about the arrival of one of the most anticipated games of 2024, the devs held a new livestream.
Atlus has finally announced the date for Metaphor: ReFantazio, which will drop on October 11 for PC and consoles. The announcement was made in a livestream confirmed by Atlus last week, which was presented by Metaphor: ReFantazio director Katsura Hashino. He also presented players with gameplay details such as Archetypes, ReFantazio's equivalent of Personas, and Final Fantasy jobs. Through this system, players can take on the appearance of various heroic figures and use their abilities to fight.
Along with the release date, Metaphor: ReFantazio devs showed off a bit more of the gameplay of the anticipated RPG. In combat, players will have a mix of real-time and turn-based fights, being able to team up with teammates to take on more powerful enemies. With the Follower system, the protagonist can meet different people, and fighting alongside them unlocks a new Archetype. As they progress through Metaphor: ReFantazio's story, players will encounter main and secondary dungeons, where combat is defined by the devs as one of the game's selling points. With Gauntlet Runners, Metaphor: ReFantazio players will be able to travel through the game world to explore, obtain equipment, and carry out missions.
Metaphor: ReFantazio's release is surrounded by a lot of anticipation, and it's not hard to see why. Seeing Persona creators in another project automatically becomes an eye-catching factor. Metaphor: ReFantazio promises to be a big push on the definition of anime in games, making it an unmissable title for both Persona fans and fans of games with anime elements.
Developed by Atlus' Studio Zero, Metaphor: ReFantazio is a fantasy RPG set in the United Kingdom of Euchronia, a medieval world that mirrors the modern-day «real world.» It

Zynga's finally has a release date after years of delays. The arena shooter was announced during the Nintendo Direct presentation on February 17, 2021, and was originally planned for a release later that year, but this kept getting pushed back as Zynga wanted to ensure the game met expectations.
Funko Inc. and developer 10:10 Games have announced that 20(!) franchises will be a part of their upcoming Funko Pop-based co-op action game Funko Fusion. They also announced a release date for PC and consoles: September 13. Check out the new gameplay trailer above and a half-dozen screenshots showing off some of the crossover IPs in the gallery below.
When are we finally going to get a release date for the Silent Hill 2 remake? The game is widely expected to launch sometime in 2024, but PR from Konami has been spotty at best. We got a somewhat-questionable trailer back in February (that even developer Bloober Team criticized as not representative of the final game) and as we head deeper into the year, there’s still a lot to be nailed down. The game’s been rated by the ESRB and there are rumors it may pop up at a PlayStation Showcase next month, but Konami themselves have remained silent.
Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno has provided an update on Silent Hill 2 in an IR/conference following the group’s consolidated annual report for 2023 (via MauroNL on Twitter). He noted that the team is “in the final stages of work” on the remake, and “We expect that a release date and platforms on which the game will appear will be revealed soon.”
As one of the Treehouse's resident Atlus sickos, I was incredibly happy to wake up to 25-minutes of Metaphor: ReFantazio's director Katsura Hashino talking us through some new footage. We get a look at a new rural town and the activities you can get up to, like bounty hunting. Travel on your magic mech is compared to "camping", which I wasn't expecting. And there's lots of combat on show, with transitions from real-time to turn-based battles outlined in a bit more detail. Oh and it's coming out in October, which gives me plenty of time to clear my JRPG backlog before this inevitably takes over my entire existence for the foreseeable.
Atlus first teased that it was working on a new RPG with a fantasy setting in mid-2023 — it also said way back then that it will be available sometime this year. Now, the developer has revealed that the game, Metaphor: ReFantazio, will come out on October 11 at a special livestream event. Katsura Hashino, the director of the game, as well as of Persona 3, 4 and 5, also introduced a 30-minute hands-on gameplay that gives you quite a lengthy look at its story and combat mechanics. Similar to the Persona games, Metaphor: ReFantazio has a turn-based combat system with what Atlus says is a «blend of real-time action.»
Just like Zagreus’ never-ending quest to escape the Underworld in Greek mythology, it seems we too are destined to continue fighting through new levels of demons and monsters in the sequel to the amazing roguelike Hades. We’re not complaining, as that game was one of the best games released in 2020, and no one expected a sequel at all, let alone one announced so soon. Hades 2 will be the first sequel studio Supergiant Games have ever made, and it makes sense given how successful and popular the first game ended up being. Aside from some notable exceptions like Rogue Legacy 2 and Spelunky 2, not many roguelikes ever get a direct sequel, so there’s a lot of mystery surrounding how Hades 2 will be different from the first game. But there’s no need to dive into the depths of the Underworld yourself in search of answers, as we’ve pulled all the information we could from the jaws of Cerberus.
