2024 hasn't exactly gotten off to the best start for the game industry: mass layoffs loom over large publishers like Epic and Riot Games, and it's becoming harder and all the more expensive to develop and deliver breakthrough games. While the growth outlook for mobile is much more optimistic than it has been in years – with Data.ai projecting up to 4% year over year growth – Epic and Google's court proceedings and Apple's response to Digital Markets Act legislation have cast a shadow over this promising growth and the future of the mobile games industry.

Sony has announced the lineup of free games coming to PlayStation Plus in May. This month's PS Plus offerings include four titles, led by popular football sim EA Sports FC 24. Other free games for May include action-platformer Ghostrunner 2, isometric action-adventure title Tunic and online shooter Destiny 2: Lightfall. All four titles will be available to PS Plus members across Essential, Extra and Deluxe/Premium tiers from May 7.

File sizes have been revealed for May's selection of free games featured on PS Plus. These titles range from a little over 1 GB to more than 50 GB, giving PS Plus subscribers extra information that should help with installation.

PlayStation Plus is getting some exciting new additions in May, allowing subscribers to pick up a variety of games and keep them as long as a subscription is active. A small selection of rotating monthly titles is available to download across all three tiers of the service, which offer varying degrees of benefits for different price points. On the more costly Extra and Premium tiers, May will also bring new entries to a more permanent catalog that consistently adds more games than it loses.

Sony has officially pulled the curtain back on the free games PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim in May 2024. Most of the time, the free PlayStation Plus announcement happens on the last Wednesday of the previous month, but the May 2024 free games were an exception to the rule.

Blizzard has announced the next season for Diablo IV called "Loot Reborn," but instead of introducing new mechanics and focusing on a seasonal story, season 4 will be all about reconfiguring itemization, buildcrafting, and addressing a myriad of tweaks and improvements requested by players.
