Much to the disappointment of weirdos who play Like a Dragon games with English voices (we're just joking!), Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name didn't feature an English dub option when it released last month. However, developer RGG Studio was quick to promise that English voicework would be added via a post-launch update — and that update's coming very soon. It's dropping at some point in December, and we're getting more info on it in the near future.
For a long time, English dubs were unheard of in the Yakuza Like a Dragon series. It was only with kind-of-spinoff title Judgment that the option to switch spoken language was added, and then Yakuza: Like a Dragon featured the series' biggest English dubbing project to date. Its upcoming sequel, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, will also boast English voices — but specific casting choices have proven controversial.

With an English dub, no less
Fans still seem divided
Indeed, voice actor and YouTuber Yong Yea was revealed as the new English voice of longtime franchise protagonist Kazuma Kiryu earlier in the year, and what little we've heard of his performance has been enough to draw plenty of ire from some Like a Dragon fans. Seeing as Kiryu is the sole star of Like a Dragon Gaiden, it'll be interesting to see what people make Yea's take on the iconic lead.

Robert's been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up. When he's not practising combos, he's usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y'know, replaying The Witcher 3.
Nah fam I'm good
Nope. Yongyea butchered Kiryu
Won't be using it anyway, these games don't sound right in English regardless of the quality of the dub and I can't imagine that ending being anywhere near as impactful with it
Yong won't get too much praise for this;)
That's a YongNo from me.
I loved the English dub in Yakuza 7 Like a Dragon, but unfortunately the casting will make me switch back to Japanese for future games. I don't get it as the English VO for Kiryu in 7 was perfectly fine. Its a shame I'm really gonna miss Kaiji Tang as Ichiban. He crushed that role.
No idea why would want this, but hey, options are good I guess. I'll just stick to the Kiryu I know and love.
As yongyea would say, yongyea out.
Cause this ain't it lmao
I’ve played all the mainline Yakuza games with subtitles, but I tried Yakuza: Like a Dragon and the Judgment games with English dubs and enjoyed them that way.
Then I tried the demo for Infinite Wealth and oh boy. Kiryu as a nasal-voiced whiner just doesn’t work. Back to subtitles, then.
Only time ive

The title is due for release on 26th January 2024, and up to now, most of its trailers have been focused on single characters. While it seems the UK's physical games top 10 is pretty much nailed down through the rest of 2023, one late arrival has added a last minute splash of colour to the picture. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora launched last week, and it's managed to secure a spot within the list of bestsellers at number five. The four games above it would be tough to beat, especially given the time of year.
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name has been warmly received on PS5 and PS4, but there’s been controversy surrounding its English dub. While most fans generally prefer to play the franchise with subtitles anyway, SEGA has found success adding English voiceovers to the series in recent years, making the franchise more accessible than it’s historically been.
Sony propelled overall console sales up almost 60 per cent year-over-year, as the PS5 absolutely exploded in Europe during November. According to a GSD sales report – which tracks several major countries, excluding the likes of the UK and Germany – the new-gen console’s sales were boosted by an eye-opening 376 per cent year-over-year. It’s worth remembering that in 2022 the system was still supply constrained, which is a factor in these results.
We reported previously how Sony had requested sales data group Circana to log PS Portal as its own platform, and now we have the results for its debut month. According to analyst Mat Piscatella, the Remote Play streaming unit was the fourth best-selling system of November, putting it behind the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

Embracer Group has made good on its promise, deciding the fate of UK-based TimeSplitters developer Free Radical Design after a consultation process that concluded on 11th December. Or at least we have to assume so, the embattled company hasn't made an announcement or anything; Free Radical's website is simply gone, with a message left behind that reads: «404 Company Not Found [sad smiley face]»

The saga of Lawrence Sullivan, AKA the «Florida Joker», continues, as the self-appointed supervillain has again upped the ante in his effort to extract money from Rockstar Games for allegedly using his likeness in GTA 6. Dying his hair purple and donning an orange prison jumpsuit, Sullivan is adding to Rockstar's alleged bill, which he's now set at $3 million, issuing a three-day deadline for compliance before his lawyers «go crazy on this case».
