Producer Carol Baum regrets making public remarks about. Her recent statements questioning the Euphoria actress’ appearance and acting abilities have led to a huge backlash from the fans and the actress herself. With people now heavily criticizing Baum, she wants to take back the discouraging comments she made about Sweeney.
Carol Baum, a Hollywood producer linked to projects such as 1991’s Father of the Bride, made remarks about Sydney Sweeney’s acting abilities and physical appearance that swiftly garned criticism.
Baum reportedly said that Sweeney “can’t act” and that she “isn’t pretty,” which promptly attracted negative attention towards the producer. A representative for Sweeney also fired back, calling Baum’s comments “shameful.”
Carol Baum is now retracting her statements, reportedly expressing regret over what she said had said about the Anyone But You actress.
TMZ reported that Baum reached out to the outlet and expressed regret over criticizing Sydney Sweeney. According to the site, the producer “wishes she never would’ve made her original comments, and that crapping on an actor like that in public usually isn’t her style.”
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dead Ringers producer also mentioned getting a lot of hate mail because of her interview.
Baum’s comments caused a huge uproar among fans, while Sydney Sweeney’s representative called her remarks an “attack” on another woman. The Immaculate producer Teddy Schwarzman also called out Baum for her “terribly ugly comments” and praised Sweeney.
Baum’s comments were reportedly made to New York Times critic Janet Maslin, who also offered her own take on the situation, saying that Anyone But You “IS unwatchable” in reference to the producer’s comments about the movie. However, Maslin also noted how she was specifically referring to Anyone But You, not Sweeney’s turns in other projects such as Euphoria.
“We brought up ‘Anyone But You’ because it’s been the rare smash hit rom-com at a time when they aren’t working. Not because we wanted to take cheap shots at anyone,” Maslin posted.
After Immaculate, Sydney Sweeney is confirmed to return in Euphoria Season 3. She will also be starring in two other upcoming movies, Echo Valley and Eden.

Lately, there seems to be a common theme that Hollywood is taking ginger characters from comics worldwide and casting Black actors. Of course, representation is always fabulous, but why is it happening with all the redheads? While some might find the choice to replace all the ginger comic characters and change their ethnicity entirely strange, I went and did some research and found a very interesting through-line with many of the actors that have been chosen to replace these characters. Jeff Strain has a pretty impressive resume, co-founding both Guild Wars developer ArenaNet and State of Decay creators Undead Labs, but things don’t seem to be going as well for him lately. Today it emerged that Possibility Space, one of the new studios Strain has founded with his wife under the larger Prytania Media umbrella, is closing for a rather unusual reason.
Tekken 8's producer, Katsuhiro Harada, expressed his impressions about a Roblox recreation of Bandai Namco's fighting game and its inclusion of a stage based on Waffle House. The Tekken series is well-known for having a number of fighters that span across the entire globe, with a number of cultures and martial arts styles being represented. Tekken 8's stages are diverse backdrops from different parts of the world, including Rome, France, Peru, and the United States of America. One incredibly popular request is a stage based on a Waffle House.
Possibility Space, the studio founded by State of Decay producer Jeff Strain, has reportedly shut down — with Strain blaming the closure on confidential leaks by employees.
