The actor behind JD Fenix might have teased upcoming Gears of War news for the scheduled Xbox Showcase this June.
After several rumors, Microsoft confirmed its Xbox June showcase via a series of posts on X earlier this year. Additional details about this event haven't been shared just yet, but recent reports and claims from insiders suggest that Gears of War 6 might very well be present at the show. As expressed by renowned insider Shinobi, the game's visuals will blow fans away, and other 'insiders' have since also chimed in on the matter.

With 2019's Gears 5 being the most recent entry in the franchise, fans are hungry for news about the popular shooting series, and on X, one fan asked JD Fenix actor about the character's death in Gears 5. Interestingly, the actor portraying JD in the game, Liam McIntyre, replied that he doesn't know what's happening to JD in a new Gears, but believes that more information about the game will be shared during the Xbox Showcase this June.
While this doesn't confirm that we'll be hearing about Gears 6 during the event, it would make sense for Microsoft to mention the game. After all, it's been five years since Gears 5 and we haven't heard anything official about a new Gears title. In any case, here's hoping.
Liam McIntyre did the voice-acting for JD Fenix in both Gears of War 4 and Gears of War 5. Some might know the Australian actor from his role as Spartacus in the second and third seasons of the Spartacus TV series.
We'll update you as soon as we learn more about the Gears franchise. For now, stay tuned. Meanwhile, here's what we wrote about Gears 5 in our launch review back in 2019:
"Gears 5 is excellent, albeit with a major narrative downfall. While the finale of the campaign definitely left a sour taste in my mouth, the game was so good that I want to keep playing the Horde and multiplayer modes just to get more Gears 5. The atmosphere and gameplay in the campaign were different to what I expected, in a good way, and I'm looking forward to where the series goes next and how this narrative finally finishes up in the sequel. Until then, this is the best Gears game in years, with an excellent multiplayer suite to back it up. Practically essential on Xbox One, and a great option for PC owners too."
