Fortnite's Next Big 'OG' Update Will See the Battle Royale Return to Its Chapter 1 Roots

The arrival of OG Fortnite has driven Epic Games' battle royale to the biggest day in its history, years after its initial success.

Fortnite has set a new all-time concurrent player record, with tracker fortnite.gg reporting 6.1 million concurrent players as the game's all-time peak yesterday, November 4 2023. That new total of 6,172,463 people online at once might be chalked up to the Fortnite Chapter 4 release, Fortnite OG, which brings back the original island and weapons, along with some early gadgets, from the heady days of Fortnite's 2018 success. As of press time, Fortnite is holding at just over 5.5 million players.

Tiny people in a big world survival game Grounded has got a heck of an update on the way: Make It and Break It will hit on November 13th, bringing in a creative mode called Playgrounds that lets you make custom game maps and modes using tools that seem pretty dang close to whatever the development team is using themselves.

When Bethesda announced back in June that it was partnering with AMD on Starfield, eager fans were not happy. There was almost immediate speculation that the deal meant Starfield would launch without support for Nvidia's DLSS tech—and for once, the internet was right. Modders brought DLSS and frame generation to Starfield in relatively short order, and Bethesda eventually promised that official support—which quite frankly is the kind of support I want when it comes to under-the-hood technomagic—was on the way, although no time frame was provided.

Burgee Media described its indie game Erenshor as “a single player nod to the MMORPGs of the past”, and after a demo release in September, a big update is coming next week with new features.

Fortnite's original map is coming back, Epic have confirmed. The news was announced via X (formerly Twitter) weeks after several leaks had suggested that time travel shenanigans would revert the free-to-play shooter's map back to its original Chapter 1 layout.

It's happening, Fortnite is turning back the clocks to Chapter One, suggesting the game's original map will make its return once again.
