Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2 is getting called out for its Glamrock Freddy jumpscare, which some have called the "worst" in the modern era of the series.
Although a lot of fans love Five Nights at Freddy's for its complicated and theory-based story, one of the most popular things about is, of course, its scary animatronics. Ever since the first game in the series, fans have been pointing out which of its iconic jumpscares are the scariest, and it seems that Help Wanted 2 might be falling flat in that area.
Although most of the jumpscares in the game seem to be being received fairly positively and have caused an equal amount of laughter and fear, there's one in particular that fans aren't so happy with - Glamrock Freddy's. At one point in Help Wanted 2, the player is tasked with doing maintenance on Glam Freddy, who has, for some reason, been frozen in place and needs help getting a birthday cake out of his chest.
These maintenance scenes are fairly standard in the Five Nights at Freddy's VR games (the original Help Wanted had several of them too), so you likely won't be too surprised that failing it will uncharacteristically cause Glam Freddy to leap at the player and jumpscare them in the process. Sadly, what should be a scary moment isn't hitting fans like it should.
Over on Twitter, PokoChoko shared a clip of the scene going wrong and Glam Freddy jumpscaring the player, saying, "This might actually be the worst Steel Wool era jumpscare this looks like a f**cking roblox fangame jumpscare". In response, fans listed several reasons why the jumpscare doesn't work, including that the lighting of the scene looks off, and that it takes you to a black void that ruins the atmosphere.
Although a lot of fans seem unhappy with the jumpscare, there are some that point out that the worst Steel Wool era jumpscare is actually that of Vanessa, the human security guard from Security Breach.
All of these problems result in the jumpscare looking like it's made up of two different scenes edited together, rather than the ones in Security Breach that actually show wherever the scare has happened in real-time. Some players have also pointed out that Glam Freddy isn't even facing the player when he leaps out to bite them, although that might just be a consequence of recording in VR.
Even if that issue has an explanation, it still seems that most players aren't too impressed with the scene. In fact, it seems like they aren't big fans of the game's scares in general, as some of the comments underneath compilations of the moment on YouTube say that they're not scary and that the noises don't match up with the characters like they're supposed to.
