Upon starting the game, you're told to fill out your Fallout 4 registration form, which has you spending a set number of points on a selection of stats – known as SPECIAL.
You can choose to spend your 21 starting SPECIAL stat points on Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and/or Luck. The game lets you know what each of the stats means.
The trouble is, if you've never played the game before, you won't know where to start. If you're starting a new save and looking for the best builds to begin the game with, too, you'll want to know which SPECIAL stats to spend your registration form points on.
We're here to help.
Read on to find out some Fallout 4 registration form beginner tips and a list of the best builds in Bethesda's RPG.
Before you randomly place your limited number of points on any stat in the Fallout 4 registration form, you're best off knowing what each stat does and the best ones to focus on for the early game.
Here's what each SPECIAL stat does:
Given there is no level cap, you can unlock all SPECIAL ranks as you play through the game, so what you choose on your registration form will apply to the early portions of your time spent in Fallout 4.
We'd recommend you spend a good number of your points on Intelligence, regardless of the character build you're aiming for. Having high Intelligence from the start will help you level up quicker and is great for earlier unlocks of perks in its tree – all of them proving useful.
Strength and Endurance are good for a few points, too, as these increase your carrying capacity (vital throughout the game) and total amount of HP. Endurance also makes sprinting easier.
Agility, Perception, and Luck are all worth spending a couple of points on each, too (Agility in particular if you want to sneak around like a wasteland ninja). Charisma is less important in the early game.
It all depends on what character build you're going for during the early portions of the game. But we do strongly recommend everyone put seven or eight points into Intelligence in the Fallout 4 registration form.

When are we finally going to get a release date for the Silent Hill 2 remake? The game is widely expected to launch sometime in 2024, but PR from Konami has been spotty at best. We got a somewhat-questionable trailer back in February (that even developer Bloober Team criticized as not representative of the final game) and as we head deeper into the year, there’s still a lot to be nailed down. The game’s been rated by the ESRB and there are rumors it may pop up at a PlayStation Showcase next month, but Konami themselves have remained silent.
Bethesda announced ’s next-gen update in 2022, and it’s finally here after a long delay. However, PC players might have been better off without it. The massive update adds very little to the PC version and causes more problems than it solves.

Ubisoft has release Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora update 3.2, bringing with it a 40 FPS performance mode for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A potential downside to the update on PC is the removal of AMD FSR 3 support, while Ubisoft work to fix artifacting issues with FSR 3 Frame Generation.
Fallout 4 sales have skyrocketed in Europe in the past week, rising over 7,500%. Steam player charts also recently hit more than 160,000 people over a weekend, almost ten years after the game was initially released. The Fallout TV Show on Amazon Prime Video has massively influenced the resurgence of the game, with fans of the show now flocking to play Bethesda's 2015 entry to the franchise.
After the Fallout TV show aired, Fallout 4 lead writer Emil Pagliarulo tweeted that the male protagonist - often called by his default name Nate - was the war criminal seen in the opening of the first game laughing as his buddy shot a Canadian citizen. He backtracked and claimed that "not every bit of info I share is automatically canon" due to how divisive the reveal was, but fans ran with it and are already putting together "lore accurate" builds in the game.
MMORPGs have offered the promise of player agency and being able to shape the world but those promises usually fall flat beyond the premise of having a stronghold in one part of the world or adjusting tax and trade ratios in another. Bitcraft: Age of Automata aims to break that concept down to the basic voxels by allowing players to literally shape the shared world as they see fit. With a single shared world to craft bit by bit, there's something special in the works with Clockwork Labs, Inc.

What's the best Fallout game to start with if you're looking to explore the post-apocalyptic franchise for the first time? If you're new to the series — perhaps you've just watched the Fallout Amazon live action adaptation — then you have a number of options available to you. In this Fallout beginner's guide, we're going to break these options down and help you decide on the Fallout game that's best for you.
The first episode of Fallout, the new streaming series on Amazon, felt a lot like the beginning of Fallout 3 for me — and not in the good way. Swapping out Liam Neeson for Kyle MacLachlan felt like a downgrade going in, but that’s probably because I’m just not a fan of his “subtle dread and kind smile” schtick. Just as in Bethesda’s 2008 sequel, life inside the Vault felt pretty bland, but things really started to open up for me in episode 2, when we finally arrived in the Wasteland.
