Comedy Central announces animated Golden Axe Sega show

After teasing a Returnal-related announcement for today, Housemarque has announced a graphical novel for its rogue-like third-person shooter – Returnal: Fallen Asteria. It’s out on October 22nd on bookstore shelves and October 23rd in comic shops. An animated video of the first issue is available, providing a peek at the graphical novel. Check it out below.

Today Christie Golden, writer, author, and storyteller, announced on Twitter that she is no longer an employee at Blizzard and was let go in the last round of layoffs. Golden has been working on Blizzard IPs for over 25 years, the last 6+ directly as an employee on Blizzard's Story & Franchise Development Team. While never an employee on the World of Warcraft team directly, Golden contributed cinematic scripts and short stories for the franchise while at Blizzard. Separately, Golden has written novel tie-ins for the game both before and during her employment at the company. Some of Golden's notable contributions to WoW are:

Pokemon Sun and Moon introduced the concept of convergent Pokemon, alternate versions of certain monsters that live in a particular environment. For example, Wigglet is a relative of the popular Generation One critter Digglet that lives near sandy beaches instead of dirt-filled fields.

A skilled Pokemon fan artist has come up with some stunning character designs depicting what Makuhita and Hariyama could have looked like if they were humans. If there's one thing members of the Pokemon community are known for, it's the boundless creativity they display when it comes to making redesigns of existingcharacters from the games. The fan art for these two Pokemon in question is no different.

The immortal SEGA brawler Golden Axe is being resurrected as a comedic animated series, of all things. Ordered by Comedy Central and produced by CBS Studios in collaboration with Sony Pictures, the series will undoubtedly feature buxom men and women battling dragons and various beasts, and presumably, hilarity will ensue.

Comedy Central has ordered a 10-episode animated series based on the SEGA game series Golden Axe, the company announced.

Sega is delving deep into its enviable IP archive to bring the world an animated adaptation of its 1989 side-scrolling arcade beat-'em-up Golden Axe.

Sega’s arcade hack-and-slash beat-’em-up Golden Axe is being adapted for television. In something of an unexpected twist, that TV series will be an animated comedy. Mike McMahan (Star Trek: Lower Decks, Solar Opposites) and Joe Chandler (American Dad!) will co-write the first episode and executive produce the 10-episode series, Comedy Central announced Wednesday. The announcement came two days after Paramount revealed that season 5 of Lower Decks would be the series’ final installment.

An animated Golden Axe series is in the works at Comedy Central, based on the popular Sega video game series of the same name.
