Bulletstorm and Outriders studio have cancelled development on a co-op action RPG

A new gameplay trailer for Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter has dropped, and those who are already familiar with the first game will be happy to know that it looks great. This is one of those sequels that's more about evolution than revolution — but we're not complaining when Tails of Iron got so much right to begin with.

Treyarch, one of the developers behind the Call of Duty games, is drawing some criticism online after a job posting on its careers page possibly hinted at the studio moving towards using AI-generated art in its games. While the job posting does not specifically state that the artist is being sought out for work in the Call of Duty franchise, Treyarch has been exclusively developing games from that franchise for more than 15 years.

I want to preface this by saying I have a certain fondness for Bandai Namco's anime video game adaptations. Sure, the studio pumps 'em out like Dairy Queen and chocolate soft serve on a hot Phoenix day, and yes, very few of them are objectively great games, but there's a consistency to the way it makes serviceable interactive versions of beloved anime stories that I find comforting. For example, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a solid 3.5/5 that I happen to love simply because I love the source material, not because the game itself is anything special.

Tucked away in the corner of this year's Day Of The Devs at GDC I discovered a lavish, strangely unattended action-RPG, in which austerely beautiful young women in elaborate skirts kick the bejazus out of each other on fields of whirling flowers. That game was Aikode, the work of Spanish solo developer Ace.

When are we finally going to get a release date for the Silent Hill 2 remake? The game is widely expected to launch sometime in 2024, but PR from Konami has been spotty at best. We got a somewhat-questionable trailer back in February (that even developer Bloober Team criticized as not representative of the final game) and as we head deeper into the year, there’s still a lot to be nailed down. The game’s been rated by the ESRB and there are rumors it may pop up at a PlayStation Showcase next month, but Konami themselves have remained silent.

In Nightmare developer Magicfish Games has announced GALIX: New Horizons, a science-fiction open-world action RPG coming to PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. A release date was not announced.

Light novel and anime hit That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is being adapted into video game form for the first time on consoles. Featuring a title that's going to kill us every time we have to type it out — That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Isekai Chronicles — it's a side-scrolling action RPG featuring a bunch of playable heroes.

As a story about stories, it’s no wonder that Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman would have some characters that other creators would want to pick up and play with. Sandman spinoff comics have starred Dream’s sister Death, the strange denizens of the Dreaming, and even Lucifer himself, leading to the the cult success of an entire LuciferTV series years before a Netflix series adapting The Sandman itself.

People Can Fly has cancelled a co-op action RPG codenamed Project Dagger after several years of development.
