If you’re gaming on the latest-generation Xbox console platforms or even on PC, then there’s a good chance you might subscribe to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. It’s proven to be well worth it if you enjoy the first-party Microsoft titles, as they will ship on the service at launch. However, we have also heard positive things about the service from third-party publishers and developers alike. Recently, the service was again praised, this time by the team bringing out Botany Manor.
Recently, True Achievements spoke with Whitethorn Games’ CEO, Matthew White, and Balloon Studios’ founder, Laure De Mey. Balloon Studios is the developer behind the upcoming game, while Whitethorn Games is acting as a publisher. During the conversation, the question was brought up about Xbox Game Pass since the game will be launching on the service.
According to Matthew White, the push to bring it on Xbox Game Pass was easy as it follows the same mission Whitethorn Games aims to provide for its audiences. That’s being inclusive and accessible. Add in the fact that Botany Manor is a more relaxed puzzle game, and according to Matthew, it also felt like it would be an excellent fit for the game catalog. So, if you’re looking for something a bit more relaxing and a break from the competitive gameplay experiences, this might catch your eye.
We’ve worked with Xbox in the past on a number of titles, and the Xbox team’s shared values of inclusivity, accessibility, and making sure everyone gets to play resonate with our overall mission as a company. In addition to other Game Pass offerings from Whitethorn this year, Botany Manor’s beauty, accessibility, and relaxed atmosphere were a natural fit for the growing catalog of games.
Meanwhile, Laure De Mey said they love the Xbox Game Pass service because it broadens up the potential player base. It gives players an excuse to try some games out that they would have usually passed on. I’m sure there have been some games on the service that you wouldn’t have personally purchased but found incredibly enjoyable purely because they were available to play for free through the service.
Botany Manor being on Game Pass is incredibly validating, especially to sit alongside so many other great titles is pretty exciting. To me personally, the main benefit is a broader exposure to all sorts of audiences, and having all kinds of players discover and hopefully enjoy the game.
