While Xbox Game Pass is expanding with several new titles in April, the month is also a sad occasion for horror fans as several spooky games are set to leave the service. As Microsoft continues to support its subscription model with new additions every month, making room for some of the latest releases requires that older games be removed. It's all part of the Game Pass cycle but fortunately, enthusiasts for all things scary still have some time to check some of the best horror games ever made.
Announced on Xbox Wire, several incredibly popular horror games are leaving Game Pass on April 15:,,, and . The first three are all developed by Frictional Games and have all earned plenty of praise for their tense atmosphere, terrifying monsters, and captivating narratives. is also a scary experience albeit for entirely different reasons as the co-op shooter pits players equipped with standard firearms and limited ammo against hordes of increasingly tough zombies.
While the games and may be older than, each one of them has earned a reputation for unflinching horror. and both hold excellent Metacritic scores of 78 and 80 respectively, while is widely regarded as Frictional's best game yet with an approximate score of 84. The franchise is widely recognized for starting a trend of survival horror that prevents players from fighting back, restricting their means of escape to simply running from the pursuing monster or hiding while it hunts.
