Abbott Elementary, and all sitcoms, should ditch the mockumentary

This upcoming indie action RPG is perfect for fans of classic SNES games, as well as those who love cozy life sims like Stardew Valley.

The developer of Helldivers 2 has declared the weekend just gone a success, insisting the game’s servers handled all players “without problem”.

Petroglyph, the makers of the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection and The Great War: Western Front, have just released their next RTS game into early access. 9-Bit Armies: A Bit Too Far is a sequel to their 8-Bit Armies series of real-time strategy games, the first of which came out all the way back in 2016. 9-Bit Armies retains the cute, voxel look of its predecessors, only now maps are even larger (4x bigger than the original, say Petroglyph), with naval battles, superstructures for your base and lots more to dig into either alone or in online co-op.

The next phase of Dawn of DC has been announced and, if you've been paying attention to recent developments in the comics then it should come as no surprise who the main antagonist is: Amanda Waller.

Bandai Namco surprised fans all over this morning with the trailer for the hotly-anticipated follow up DLC for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree. I was fortunate to not only catch an early glimpse of the trailer, which also confirmed the DLC's release date for June 21, but also to sit down and talk with the man himself, Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki.

In the War Within, Xal'atath and Alleria Windrunner will have a unique rivalry. As a character, Xal'atath is relatively new — introduced first in Legion. While Alleria's character is older even than Sylvanas, and was first introduced in Warcraft II, the expansion that she was properly reintroduced in was Legion as well. With The War Within on its way, it's a good time to revisit their story. But that can be easier said than done. World of Warcraft's story is something that spans not only multiple expansions — but multiple games, novels, animated shorts, comics, audio dramas, and just thousands upon thousands of quests. How do you follow the thread of just one or two characters, in a way that lets you re-experience their stories for yourself? I hope that, at least in the case of Alleria and Xal'atath, this guide will help.

I was already on board with Sand Land's beautiful open world, based on the relatively obscure manga from Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. Cynics might point to Bandai Namco precedent and say Sand Land is on track to be yet another middling adaptation appealing only to hardcore fans, ala Dragon Ball Kakarot, but I personally gravitate to the almost comfortable consistency in the publisher's vibrant worlds and simple but satisfying gameplay.

The notorious horror comics imprint EC is back from the dead! The publisher behind titles like Tales from the Crypt, Weird Science, and The Vault of Horror, is being relaunched at Oni Press (who seem to be on a bit of a hot streak at the moment) later this year. Two books - Epitaphs from the Abyss and Cruel Universe - will mark the first new releases under the EC banner in almost seven decades.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong, the new expanded remake of the GBA retro puzzle-platformer, is out now on the Nintendo Switch and the game has plenty of post-game content to unlock and play through. During today's highly anticipated Xbox Podcast, Microsoft confirmed that while four Xbox games are going to other platforms, big titles like Starfield and Indiana Jones are remaining exclusive for now. Nevertheless, Xbox boss Phil Spencer believes that exclusive games are going to become much less important in the industry over the next decade.
