Rhythm game Gunvolt Records Cychronicle announced for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC

Regular readers will know, perhaps rather unusually, I love trains. I’ve been covering Train Sim World in intimate detail for years now, much to developer Dovetail’s pleasure. (I will get around to reviewing Train Sim World 4 by the way, it’s just the schedule’s been brutal for me this past month. Also, maybe the studio would like to slow down just a touch with the sequels and expansions so I can catch up?)

SPYxANYA: Operation Memories will launch for Switch on December 21, 2023 in Japan, followed by PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in 2024, publisher Bandai Namco and developer Groove Box Japan announced. The PlayStation 5 and Switch versions will be available both physically and digitally, while the PlayStation 4 version will be digital-only.

Update: Well, we suppose that was inevitable. Sony has officially confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition is coming to PS5 on the 6th October. It's also heading to PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) a little later, in early 2024. You can take a look at the announcement trailer above.

Update, 9/25/23: During Capcom's Tokyo Game Show presentation, the publisher announced that Resident Evil Village and its Winters' Expansion are coming to iOS on October 30. The game will be playable on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad Air and iPad Pro with the M1 chip or later. The Winters' Expansion includes the Shadows of Rose story campaign.

Ratalaika Games will release PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions of Bike Daisuki! Hashiriya Kon – Rider’s Spirits and Scurge: Hive in 2024, according to its flyer handed out at Tokyo Game Show 2023 this past weekend.

Studio Lights, a Shinjuku-based studio that worked on the environment lighting and cutscene lighting for both Final Fantasy XVI and Forspoken, has announced “isekai action RPG” Mononoke no Kuni. It will launch for PC via Steam in spring 2024, with plans to also release on PlayStation, Switch, iOS, and Android. A specific PlayStation platform was not announced.

Xbox announced a slew of new titles coming to its Game Pass subscription service this year. At its Tokyo Game Show segment, held Thursday, the publisher confirmed that Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will be available to members for free on day one i.e., November 9. In it, Kazama Kiryu, the famous Yakuza who faked his death to protect his family, slips into the black suit once again and works as a bodyguard codenamed ‘Joryu.' His cover is soon threatened when a mysterious figure with ties to the past comes to haunt him, spawning a crazed frenzy across the streets of Japan, as we punch our way through hordes.

Microsoft made a number of announcements during its Xbox Digital Broadcast at Tokyo Game Show 2023, most of which revolved around Japan and Japan-inspired games and updates. Xbox boss Phil Spencer and Head of Xbox Creator Experience Sarah Bond talked about the importance of the Japanese market. "Japan will always have a special place in my heart for pioneering innovative ways to play, from the Game Boy, to PSP, to the Switch," Spencer said.

BeXide has announced roguelike deckbuilder Yohane the Parhelion: NUMAZU in the MIRAGE for PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC (Steam). It will launch on February 22, 2024 with English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language support.

Looks like we're getting another foodie crossover in Final Fantasy 14. 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and Dragon's Crown developer Vanillaware has announced its next game is a stunning tactical RPG that goes by the name of Unicorn Overlord. It's coming to PS5 and PS4 on 8th March 2024, and you can check out the announcement trailer above.

Metroidvania / side-scrolling action game TEVI will launch for Switch and PC via Steam on November 30, followed by PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2024, CreSpirit, Neverland Entertainment, and GemaYue announced.
