A reliable Capcom insider has suggested that Resident Evil 9 could have been "internally delayed" from its original plan of being revealed this year and released in 2025.
2024 has already been a big year for Capcom with the release of Dragon's Dogma 2 but, despite Resident Evil 4's remake having just released a year ago, there are a lot of us hoping to see it get even bigger with Resident Evil 9. Although the next game in the series hasn't even been confirmed yet, it's been rumoured for some time and seems to be on the distant horizon.
Resident Evil 9 might have seemed like it wasn't too far from release considering all of the leaked details we've heard about it, but that might not be the case anymore. According to reliable Capcom insider AestheticGamer1 (also known as Dusk Golem), Resident Evil 9 might have been hit with an internal delay.
As shared by ResetEra user Blackbird, AestheticGamer1 recently shared some new information about Resident Evil 9 over on Discord, seemingly after being asked if they know when the game is being announced. In response, they said that they currently don't know what's happening with it and that it "could be Sumnmer, could be later".
What they do know is that a couple of years ago, the plan was to reveal the game in 2024 and then aim for a 2025 release. It seems that plan might have been pushed back a bit, though, as AestheticGamer1 has been hearing rumours about Resident Evil 9 being hit with an internal delay "for one reason or another".
Although that might seem like a reason to panic, Dusk Golem pointed out that Resident Evil games get delayed fairly often. They also suggest that another Resident Evil game may be announced and released before Resident Evil 9, but that they're not entirely confident in that being the case. Looks like the rumoured Resident Evil 5 remake might not be as far off as we think.
"I do know that a couple of years ago the aim was to reveal the game this year and aim for a 2025 release, but I've been hearing murmers (sic) the last few months that RE0 might've been internally delayed for one reason or another."
It's worth remembering that, although most seem to think this is a genuine report, someone was pretending to be Dusk Golem earlier this year and faked some Monster Hunter Wilds news. Keep your expectations in check until they say something publicly about it.

A notable leaker has claimed that Resident Evil 9's development is on track, and that fans won't have to wait long to see the game.
