Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release later this week in early access (on Thursday, September 14 to be exact), and its full list of PS5 trophies has now been unveiled. Amongst them, one particular achievement will be awarded for bloodthirsty players who spill a whopping 5,000 pints of blood.
As Push Square reports, the list of trophies can be found via PSNProfiles, and the squelchy achievement in question is called ‘Beaten And Broken’. As you’d expect of a Mortal Kombat game, this is far from the only brutal trophy up for grabs — others include ‘Deadly Assassin’ (awarded for performing 20 Fatalities), and ‘Karnage’ (unlocked after delivering 10 Brutalities).
For any trophy hunters, most of Mortal Kombat 1’s list seems pretty manageable just through regular play — anyone who’s already excited to dive in will probably find themselves checking off the likes of ‘Making Friends Is Easy’ (awarded for using 10 different Kameo characters) and ‘So I Just Kill Stuff?’ (unlocked after completing five different unique encounters) quite quickly.
Last week, it was revealed that none other than Megan Fox is joining Mortal Kombat 1 as the voice and face of the vampiric fighter Nitara. In a statement released at the time, the actress said: “I grew up playingMortal Kombat and I can’t believe that I’m voicing a character in the new game. It’s an honor to be a part of one of the greatest video game legacies of all time.”
Fox isn’t the only famous face in Mortal Kombat 1 — we recently got our first look at Jean-Claude Van Damme in the game, who’s been added as an alternate skin for Johnny Cage (whose existence was originally inspired by the martial artist). The skin will be included in the Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat 1.

Anyone who picks up a copy of the Premium Edition will have access to the Kombat Pack, this is where you’ll find the confirmed Mortal Kombat 1 DLC characters.
The co-creator of the Mortal Kombat series and director of Mortal Kombat 1, Ed Boon, has revealed that it was a consideration during the most recent game’s development to have every single character played by a recognizable actor.
Mortal Kombat 1 is upon us, and the iconic fighting game series comes full circle and restarts the timeline, adjusting what we knew about all of the Mortal Kombat 1 characters. While we rethink what we knew about the series with Mortal Kombat 1, co-creator and director Ed Boon has talked about the reboot in the context of both Tekken and Street Fighter’s return, and how he felt when Jean-Claude Van Damme went to do the latter’s less-than-favorable ‘90s movie instead of his own videogame.
I've loved the recent Mortal Kombat games, but if there's one thing they have not been good at, it's celebrity cameos. From Ronda Rousey as Sonya, to the Dimitri Vegas skin for Sub-Zero, to most recently Megan Fox as Nitara, more often than not the appearance of a famous face in these games means that you're about to be subjected to voice-acting more grisly than the fatalities. So I'm frankly a little horrified to find out that Ed Boon's dream for Mortal Kombat 1 was for all the fighters to be played by different household names.
Mortal Kombat 1 features two huge actors, with Megan Fox playing Nitara, and Jean-Claude Van Damme available as an alternate skin and voice pack for Johnny Cage. However, Ed Boon didn't want to stop there, at one point envisioning a Mortal Kombat 1 cast where every single fighter was played by a big-name celebrity.
Some fans aren't happy with how she delivered her lines.
With the game out now, the full Mortal Kombat 1 roster has been revealed and it includes 22 playable characters at launch with one more available as DLC.
NetherRealm Studios has rolled out a day one patch for Mortal Kombat 1.
It's pretty much expected nowadays for the majority of the big fighting games to have some kind of cross-play support, what with them being primarily multiplayer focused experiences. Street Fighter 6 had crossplay at launch, as will Tekken 8 when that releases next year, but it seems like Mortal Kombat 1 fans will have to wait a little bit before they can go a few rounds with someone on a different platform.
NetherRealm Studios' latest 2D fighter, Mortal Kombat 1, is right around the corner. Premium and Kollector Editions of the game go live this Thursday, September 14, and the regular edition goes live next week on September 19. Ahead of the game's release, NetherRealm has released the official launch trailer, featuring four minutes of new gameplay, fatalities, gore, and more.
NetherRealm Studios has released the launch trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, which launches next week worldwide. Premium and Kollector’s Edition owners can start on September 14th, so this should be a good preview of what to expect.
