Nintendo’s software sales for the fiscal year may be slightly down compared to the previous year, but its biggest titles continue to sell exceedingly well, according to its updated top-selling titles list. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still on top, with 61.97 million units sold as of March 31st, 2024, up from the 60.58 million sales announced in the previous quarter.

Nintendo Switch has sold 141.32 million units worldwide as of March 31, 2024, Nintendo announced in its latest earnings release.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has confirmed that the company will be announcing the Switch successor, currently dubbed Switch 2, before April 2025.

Buckshot Roulette is an ugly, mean little game that pits players in a no-win scenario against a sinister, shotgun wielding dealer. The game is a solo effort from developer Mike Klubnika, and it blew up after its launch on itch.io, in part because it found popularity on short-form video platforms. The game has since launched on Steam and has now sold over a million copies. In a world where big-budget, wonderfully crafted games can – and often do – fall off the radar without making a splash, it’s interesting to interrogate the unexpected success of a small game, especially one that’s designed to be so viscerally unpleasant.

Helldivers 2 ranks 7th in lifetime US dollar sales for Sony published games after just two months of availability.

Circana today released its sales report for US spending on games in March, showing growth for the fourth consecutive month.

While Dragon’s Dogma 2 topped US software charts for March 2024 per Circana’s Matt Piscatella, Helldivers 2 wasn’t far behind. It ranked in second place and is still the best-selling premium title of the year to date. Furthermore, it’s the seventh best-selling title (in terms of lifetime dollar sales) published by Sony, despite only being on sale for two months.

Rise of the Ronin may be a little shy over a month out from its release on PlayStation 5, but that isn’t stopping the action RPG's sales from outpacing its spiritual predecessors, Nioh and Nioh 2.

Team Ninja’s Rise of the Ronin launched with generally favorable reviews last month, though some were less positive than others (check out ours here). Nevertheless, in its financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2024, Koei Tecmo reports that sales are surpassing its Nioh series.
