Demon Slayer - The Hinokami Chronicles Sequel Reportedly In Development

A reliable Sega insider has claimed that a sequel to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles is currently in development, presumably at CyberConnect2.
Although there have been a few disappointments here and there (I'm looking at you Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash), the last few years have been great for anime gaming adaptations, even if a lot of them have been following the same arena fighter formula popularised by Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm.
One anime gaming adaptation that can certainly get away with following that trend is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles. Not only was it developed by the creators of Ultimate Ninja Storm, CyberConnect2, but it also offered its own unique take on the standard mechanics and delivered a faithful and beautiful retelling of the anime's first season.
Demon Slayer - The Hinokami Chronicles might have only released a few years ago, but it seems that we're going to be getting another game in the series in the not-so-distant future. Over on Twitter, reliable Sega insider MbKKssTBhz5 (who previously announced they were retiring from leaking before changing their minds), claimed that a sequel to The Hinokami Chronicles was now in development.
Although MbKKssTBhz5 didn't reveal who was going to be developing the sequel, it's safe to assume that CyberConnect2, the team behind the first game, will be returning for Tanjiro's next adventure. The Demon Slayer anime is about to enter its fourth season, which will focus on the Hashira Training arc, so even if we're nowhere close to the end of the story, there's a lot for the next game to take from.
Some fans have noted concern that the anime isn't much further into the manga's story than when the first game released, but it's worth noting that Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 decided to go with a non-canon ending to deal with that same situation.
Beyond suggesting that a new game in the series is in development, MbKKssTBhz5 didn't reveal much more about the project or when we can expect to hear from it. CyberConnect2 still has some work to do on Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and we have no idea how long the project has been in development for, so it's likely a few years from release.
Interestingly, this isn't the first time that a sequel to The Hinokami Chronicles has been reported to be in development. Twitter user NinjaStormCo previously claimed back in June that a sequel was entering the development stage in March of this year, which lines up with MbKKssTBhz5's claims.
