A reliable Sega insider has claimed that a sequel to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles is currently in development, presumably at CyberConnect2.
Although there have been a few disappointments here and there (I'm looking at you Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash), the last few years have been great for anime gaming adaptations, even if a lot of them have been following the same arena fighter formula popularised by Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm.
One anime gaming adaptation that can certainly get away with following that trend is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles. Not only was it developed by the creators of Ultimate Ninja Storm, CyberConnect2, but it also offered its own unique take on the standard mechanics and delivered a faithful and beautiful retelling of the anime's first season.
Demon Slayer - The Hinokami Chronicles might have only released a few years ago, but it seems that we're going to be getting another game in the series in the not-so-distant future. Over on Twitter, reliable Sega insider MbKKssTBhz5 (who previously announced they were retiring from leaking before changing their minds), claimed that a sequel to The Hinokami Chronicles was now in development.
Although MbKKssTBhz5 didn't reveal who was going to be developing the sequel, it's safe to assume that CyberConnect2, the team behind the first game, will be returning for Tanjiro's next adventure. The Demon Slayer anime is about to enter its fourth season, which will focus on the Hashira Training arc, so even if we're nowhere close to the end of the story, there's a lot for the next game to take from.
Some fans have noted concern that the anime isn't much further into the manga's story than when the first game released, but it's worth noting that Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 decided to go with a non-canon ending to deal with that same situation.
Beyond suggesting that a new game in the series is in development, MbKKssTBhz5 didn't reveal much more about the project or when we can expect to hear from it. CyberConnect2 still has some work to do on Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and we have no idea how long the project has been in development for, so it's likely a few years from release.
Interestingly, this isn't the first time that a sequel to The Hinokami Chronicles has been reported to be in development. Twitter user NinjaStormCo previously claimed back in June that a sequel was entering the development stage in March of this year, which lines up with MbKKssTBhz5's claims.

Sadly, February marked the passing of Yoshitaka Murayama, the legendary creator of Suikoden and its spiritual successor, Eiyuden Chronicle, with Hundred Heroes releasing on PS5 and PS4 next week. Developer Rabbit & Bear Studios has announced its intention to proceed with the series, but what form that takes will depend on how its impending and eagerly anticipated JRPG is received.
The team at Rabbit & Bear Studios is continuing with the development of a new Eiyuden Chronicle sequel following the death of series creator Yoshitaka Murayama.
Rabbit and Bear Studios’ Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes launches next week, nearly four years since its Kickstarter went live. As a spiritual successor to Suikoden helmed by the series’ creative leadership, it’s highly anticipated, especially among old-school RPG fans. However, even before its release, the developer has confirmed it’s “moving forward” with a sequel.
Playing video games together is some of the most fun you can have on a couch, especially when you’re working towards the same goal. Here are some of How-To Geek’s favorite couch co-op titles that will tempt even non-gamers.
As if casting Idris Elba in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 wasn't enough of a scoop, this year's third Sonic movie will reportedly see the eternally youthful Keanu Reeves take on the role of Shadow.
Well, it's official: Geena Davis is not in Tim Burton's eagerly anticipated Beetlejuice 2. The actor, who played Barbara Maitland in the 1988 movie, confirmed the news, which is likely to disappoint longtime fans, at CinemaCon 2024.
By now, you've probably heard the buzz surrounding Amazon's live-action Fallout show. And as it turns out, it is a faithful and fun adaptation of the hilariously grotesque post-apocalyptic role-playing game series. The live-action show offers a glimpse of the wild world of Fallout and all the bizarre hijinks just waiting to be uncovered, and it's likely got you wanting for some games to try out that have a similar conceit.
Apple’s iPhone 16 range is rumored to arrive with multiple hardware upgrades to boost its AI capabilities. However, analysts are still skeptical of the launch, predicting that a limited artificial intelligence features set is expected to arrive later this year. However, for those who have intended to skip a purchase in 2024, 2025 has some notable internal changes arriving with the iPhone 17 lineup, likely boosting its AI-related functionality. Let us take a look at more details here.
It has been nearly a decade since X-Men films alum last portrayed Jean Grey in X-Men: Days of Future Past, where she made a brief appearance during a flashforward scene. In a recent interview with Screen Greek, Janssen addressed the possibility of her returning as Jean Grey in Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine.
Action roguelike UnderMine is getting a numbered sequel. That number is two. The follow-up to 2020’s action roguelike is UnderMine 2. It was announced today as part of the Triple-i Initiative, which is a silly name that I’m writing with the correct stylisation out of respect to UnderMine 2’s slimes.
A number of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Kickstarter backers have been met with unexpected shipping costs, which in some cases have nearly doubled the amount people will pay.
