Blizzard has introduced new Account Restrictions in Season of Discovery for accounts which the first paid month has not yet fully passed. If you added game time for the first time to your account, you will not be able to trade with other players, use the auction house or in-game mails in Season of Discovery until the first 30 days have passed.
Blizzard says that this restriction is similar to the change to the purchase of WoW tokens announced in November of 2023.
While this is only intended for Season of Discovery realms, it seems it has been affecting players on Classic Era servers as well. Blizzard is investigating and working on a fix.

World of Warcraft recently implemented a restriction for new accounts in Classic Season of Discovery that stops them from trading with other characters, using the auction house, or sending and receiving in-game mail. These limitations, imposed on World of Warcraft accounts until they have had a paid subscription for at least 30 days, were added for similar reasons as last year’s restriction on WoW token purchases.
Earlier this week, Blizzard announced restrictions for new accounts and their characters on Season of Discovery realms. In the official forums, Senior Game Producer Tom Ellis has commented on the change, clarifying that new players will still be eligible to receive items and gold from helping friends — just not trade them away through mail, trading, or the Auction House.
