While the original garnered a small, dedicated player base, is already off to a blistering start, having so many concurrent players in its first weekend that the game's maximum server capacity was hit. It only takes a handful of missions to see the innate brilliance of, and a couple dozen hours have revealed a satisfying depth in its gameplay synergies, but the game's longevity remains to be seen, despite genuinely fascinating use of its always-online, live-service nature.

Ultros Review: "An Utterly Original DMT-Infused Metroid Fever Dream"

The Sarcophagus drifts through space, a thrumming celestial ark with a mysterious deity at its thunderous center. Fighting the creatures in Hadoque’s gorgeous debut feels recognizable in generalized metroidvania genre terms, but this eventually takes a backseat to a most unusual gameplay core: landscaping and nurturing the curious flora within the massive spacecraft. It’s a sizable twist in a genre which often prioritizes combat, but it’s a compelling and encompassing experiment; once the game’s intricate narrative and expectations become apparent, players may find that they don’t even need a sword to succeed.

Even though it's only 1/3 of the way complete, Emberheart Games' is required playing for not just fans, but anyone who has ever looked up from messing around with an in-game level editor only to realize it's 03:00 and you've been working on diagetic enemy placement for six hours. "An Unholy Union of Stealth-Based FPS and Weird Western Horror" - Blood West Review

An unholy union of stealth-based FPS and weird western horror works like dynamite in Hyperstrange’s. With the game now releasing after almost two years spent in Early Access, the final version delivers a substantive, often grueling action-RPG experience with some light survival horror elements, all presented in gloriously low-rez 3D. The eye-catching gritty aesthetic pairs beautifully with the macabre country atmosphere, and fans of horror games, challenging Soulslikes, and the classic series (Stephen L. Russell incidently joined the game's voice cast recently) will not be able to tear themselves away.

Those who haven't been able to try it on PC but wanted a chance on Switch will find that the game remains great. Veterans who have been into the Blue Hole and back will benefit from the portability of the Switch and, alongside the relatively new content for the game that released earlier this month and low price, it makes sense to re-invest.
