Japanese Switch Online players just got an important piece of Zelda history

While here in the US the Nintendo Switch Online service got three new Mario games this week (yes, Alleyway is a Mario game), the update for Japan included a bonus classic you may not have heard of. Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru (officially translated as The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls) was a Japanese Game Boy release, co-developed by the familiar tag-team of Nintendo R&D1 and Intelligent Systems, responsible for much of the Game Boy’s lineup. And while The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls may not be a household name, if you’re a fan of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (and who isn’t?) you should take the time to play it.

There are hundreds of ways to decorate your dream island, but the grind to get there can be a little daunting, especially with so many items being seasonal or part of holiday events. You are always encouraged to go out and visit your friend’s islands via Dodo Airlines (as long as you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership) so you can trade for or snag some items from their islands. Nintendo Confirms When It Will Reveal Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo has revealed that fans can expect an announcement about the upcoming Switch successor, or Switch 2 as it has come to be known, sometime before the end of the current fiscal year. Rumors about the next iteration of the Nintendo Switch have been swirling for the past couple of years, which is understandable considering that the company’s unique hybrid console originally launched in 2017. Even upon its release, the Switch was considered to be one generation behind the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and many gamers have been waiting for Nintendo to release hardware that could compete graphically and technically with ninth-generation consoles.
