These Are All the Games from the Xbox Showcase Confirmed for PS5 | Push Square

Yesterday’s big Xbox Showcase was stacked with software, but as is often the case with these platform presentations, a large number of the titles on display will be releasing elsewhere. This is true of at least 13 of the titles on offer, with a handful of others still awaiting clarification. Just in case you were curious, these are the games all currently confirmed to release on PS5 from yesterday’s presentation:

Big Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Update Out Now, Story DLC Drops in September | Push Square

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown may not subscribe to Ubisoft's trademark open world and live service formula, but that isn't stopping the developer from giving the game a lot of post-launch support. Confirmed during the company's summer showcase, the action platformer has a new 'Divine Trials' update — which is out now — and it's getting a proper story DLC in September, called The Mask of Darkness.

This one’s not to be confused with Black Myth: Wukong, Where Winds Meet, Phantom Blade Zero, or any other number of titles, like Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn. This one’s totally unique!

Alan Wake 2: Night Springs Review (PS5) | Push Square

If you think Remedy Games is weird and wonderful, wait till you get a load of its episodic Alan Wake 2 DLC, Night Springs. After blowing us away with its horror sequel – one of the very few 10/10 games of 2023 for us – we’ve been dying for some more Remedy goodness. Now that it’s here though, is Night Springs as sharp and meta as the main game? In so many ways, it is, but expectation will likely be the biggest killer of this content offering.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape Review (PS5) | Push Square

10 years ago, we booted up the beta for Destiny on PS4. It was an exciting time, as the possibilities of multiplayer on console were rapidly expanding into the territory of live service, a term that didn’t hold quite the same implications as it does now. There were bold claims of half a billion dollar budgets and decade spanning plans, and to top it off, the ex-Halo devs actually had a tight first-person shooter on its hands. But now we’re on the other end of those promises with Destiny 2: The Final Shape, the concluding entry to the meandering Light and Darkness saga. And y’know what? The b*stards really did it.

Starship Troopers: Extermination — a first-person adaptation of the cult classic movie series — is bringing the fight to PS5 on the 11th October. Primarily a co-op, objective-based shooter, Extermination will launch with a 25-mission single-player campaign when it comes to consoles. And apparently, more single-player missions will be added post-launch.

HoYoverse’s may as well take up residence inside your bank account at this point, because between Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and the upcoming Zenless Zone Zero, it’s got the income of millions of PS5 players on lock. But it’s not done yet! Rumours have been swirling for quite some time that it’s working on an Animal Crossing-esque outing, and leaked footage has added further fuel to the fire.

Xbox Bigwig Confirms Many More Microsoft Games Are Coming to PS5 | Push Square

Phil Spencer, the talkative head honcho of Xbox, has confirmed his company will be bringing more of its games to other platforms, like PS5. After its bemusing business meeting earlier in the year, the executive would only officially commit to four ports, all of which are already available: Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Pentiment, and Hi-Fi Rush. It’s since shuttered the studio behind the last title, alongside other fan favourite teams, such as Arkane Austin.

Final Fantasy 16 Patch 1.33 Makes Us Think the Frame Rate Will Never Be Fixed on PS5 | Push Square

A new update for Final Fantasy 16 has landed, and to say it's minor would probably be an understatement. Patch 1.33 adds colour-coding to custom controller layouts in order to «improve visibility», and it fixes some very specific issues that most players won't even know exist.

PS5 Needs to Do a Better Job of Alerting You to the Things Going on in Your Games | Push Square

The PS5 is a fantastic console, but increasingly we’ve been feeling that its operating system doesn’t feel designed with modern games in mind. This is particularly ironic when you consider Sony’s live service push: Helldivers 2 has already struck big, but it’s desperate to add Concord or Fairgame$ to the mix.

Assassin's Creed Shadows' Two Characters Will Satisfy Both Old and New Fans on PS5 | Push Square

The Assassin's Creed series got its start with a heavy emphasis on stealth, and while it stuck with that formula for many games, it eventually pivoted to a full-on action RPG. Whether you're into the earlier titles, the larger-scale RPGs, or both, this shift has resulted in a somewhat split fanbase. Assassin's Creed Shadows, with its duo of protagonists, feels as though it's addressing this issue head on, with the pair representing these two contrasting approaches.
