Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 6 Finally Lets You Swap Companions Faster

Larian has revealed more details on the upcoming patch for Baldur's Gate 3, and it includes a great quality-of-life feature. Finally, we'll be able to swap companions around without manually dismissing one of them, and then running over to recruit the other.
According to Larian, we can now recruit a new companion even if our party is full. While we haven't seen this in action yet, this presumably means that we'll use dialogue options to tell our new party members who they'll be replacing, saving us from running across camp to make two separate conversations.
"You’ll now be able to dismiss a recruited companion from your party while speaking to the companion you want to replace them with," says Larian, explaining the new feature. Right now, everyone will refuse to join a full party, prompting you to boot someone out first.
It's not clear if this means that the unique lines everyone has when you ask them to join a full party will still be in the game. There's nothing like Lae'zel asking you to "dismiss your weakest warrior" in favour of her, after all. However, these lines could stay in the game, it might just be that you get a chance to respond to them with the name of the character you're booting out, letting your desired companion tag along instead.
This isn't all that Patch 6 will bring us. It's also, finally, giving us a fix for Shield Bash - a reaction that hasn't worked properly for ages. We should also notice that the player character is better prioritised in cutscenes, so we're always leading the conversation. This is already the case most of the time, but there are a few conversations where, for some reason, we're put in control of one of our companions instead, leaving our character to just react in the background.
But of course, the main appeal of Patch 6 so far is the overhauled smooching. Larian has already shown off new kisses from Halsinand Shadowheart - the latter of which is wonderfully over the top - so it seems like all the romanceable companions will get new kissing animations.
Larian hasn't explicitly told us when the patch will drop, but it's expected to go live tomorrow, to mark Valentine's Day.
